Artist description Pocket player musicians extremely into the GROOVE with interesting changes and hooks. A cool backdrop for Raeme's earthy voice, adding tight, airy harmonies, and singer/songwriter sensibilities. She is a refreshing blend of Soul Diva and earthy songstress. We're looking to add a keyboardist to the mix to round out our sound. We play all original material, which reflect our many influences. We try to keep a live chemistry in our recordings. This EP is mostly older material we wanted to record so we could move on to recording more recent stuff. We have recorded the main tracks for our full length CD, but are on hiatus for the time being. Artist History Raeme and Jaimal have been performing together for around 10 years. We recently moved back to the central coast(San Luis Obispo) of California after 7 years in Seattle. The band "Soul Miner's Daughter" was formed in late '98 with Bret Coats on bass and Nate Smith on drums. We had a great time and made some good music. We were sad to leave Seattle and will miss creating with Bret and Nate. We are in the process of finding new band members, writing new material, and finishing the full length CD. We have friends with studios and lots of family here. Jaimal has been playing with computer toys and will, periodically, be uploading his experiments. Expect the CD to be finished by the end of Summer. We will probably be adding some new songs that have evolved from playing with Reason and Pro Tools. The CD was originally going to be 10 songs, but will probably be 12+. We are looking forward to playing out, again, and hope you enjoy the new CD when it comes out. S.M.D.

Press Reviews Soul Miner's Daughter belongs in that Lilithy camp of self-examining singer-songwriter groups, purveying a strongly rhythmic and cooly melodic brand of complex and introspective adult alternative folk. Additionally, the group introduces soul and funk influences into the mix, which goes a long way towards cutting down any potential feeling of navel-gazing. Reminiscient of musicians as diverse as Joni Mitchell, Bill Withers, and Joan Armatrading, Soul Miner's Daughter often sound closest to Stevie Wonder, as they share his ability to present a collection of funk songs, folk songs, pop songs, and soul ballads that all somehow seem cut from the same cloth. That Soul Miner's Daughter succeeds in marrying this complex mix of styles as often as they do is a testament to the amount of effort and sincerity that went into the creation of this music.
