    Artist History
In 1994, the two remaining members of prominent Los Angeles thrash band PSYCHOSIS formed the original lineup of PROTOTYPE. Kragen Lum (guitar) and Vince Levalois (vocals, guitar), together with a new drummer and bassist, recorded three of their newest compositions for their highly acclaimed "Seed" demo. Critics worldwide have praised "Seed" as one of the top metal recordings available, even referring to it as a benchmark for today's aggressive/melodic progressive metal. After extensive club appearances in support of "Seed," Lum and Levalois reentered the studio in 1997 to record their independent CD "Cloned," which again received international critical and fan acclaim. This session marked the first collaboration with new drummer Pat Magrath, formerly of Edel America Records act Killing Culture. Magrath's style and talent has been praised in numerous national publications, including "Modern Drummer." Bassist Kirk Scherer joined PROTOTYPE in 1999. His solid rhythm and songwriting abilities completing the band's current, most unified lineup. PROTOTYPE recently parted ways with Magrath and are currently seeking a replacement. PROTOTYPE has and continues to support today's most renowned metal acts. The band has previously shared live billing with FATES WARNING, DEATH, HAMMERFALL, NEVERMORE, MERCYFUL FATE, ENTOMBED, EXODUS, FLOTSAM AND JETSAM, MORBID ANGEL and GRIP INC., among many others. These professional collaborations have provided the experience and knowledge needed to excel both on and off the stage. Based in Los Angeles, PROTOTYPE continues to push the boundaries of metal's status quo. Throughout the years, the Lum/Levalois songwriting team has produced some of the most innovative progressive/aggressive music in the worldwide underground metal scene. The band breaks the rules of meshing styles without compromising musical integrity. Their songs boast an array of powerful melody, progression and passion combined with futuristic overtones, while still retaining a heavy attitude. Levalois' lyrics poetically and often metaphorically explore topics of history, humanity and the questioning of one's faith. These phrasings are honest words derived from personal emotion, conflict and educated experience, which serve to reinforce the band's drive and musical direction. The partnership of Lum and Levalois has flourished for more than a decade, during which time they have developed local, national and international recognition through extensive club performances and one-on-one communication with fans and press at home and abroad. PROTOTYPE continues this grass roots approach to self-promotion by distributing their albums through independent retailers worldwide, and by securing airplay on U.S., South American and European radio programs, where they have achieved regular to heavy rotation. In recent months, they have gained additional notoriety through numerous successful tribute albums. PROTOTYPE has been invited to record songs from pioneering metal bands--from Metallica to Rush, Iron Maiden to Testament--for inclusion on commercially distributed CDs honoring the veteran acts. Their renditions of these classic metal anthems have attracted a legion of new fans for their original material. In fact, their version of Metal Church's self-titled song held the #1 position on the metal chart at www.mp3charts.com for sixteen months, averaging over 200 downloads every week! Similarly, PROTOTYPE'S original recordings and tribute songs dominate the Progressive and Thrash Metal charts at the high-traffic www.mp3.com site, where they are consistently found toping the Progressive Metal and Thrash Metal charts. PROTOTYPE recently finished recording their newest full-length album entitled "Trinity". Fans who have heard mixes of the songs strongly proclaim that this is their best work to date. Still maintaining a heavy edge, "Trinity" represents the consummate intersection of aggressive and progressive song construction, offering a high-energy performance that showcases exceptional musicianship in compositions that remain astonishingly melodic. Distribution for "Trinity" has been secured for U.S., Canadian and South American territories, with Europe closely following. "Trinity" is now available for purchase online and through retailers. The band is currently seeking a recording deal so that their music can reach listeners beyond the limits of their independent self-promotion. Fans and critics alike agree that this action from the music industry is long overdue. For further information, contact: PROTOTYPE, P.O. Box 993, Pacific Palisades, CA 90272, www.prototypeonline.com

    Press Reviews
Trinity Reviews: 9 OUT OF 10 "This is a surprising change of pace from the usual scary Satanic death and black metal that World War III releases. Prototype play a classy progressive metal, with enough diversity to keep all enthralled. There is some serious off-tempo manipulation in the first song that will leave all jaws dropped, but for the most part, the band doesn't hit you over the head with a barrage of mathematics, instead toying with smart melodies and subtle instrumental trickery, not unlike earlier Queensryche with a thrashier edge to it. The drumming is snappy, smooth and flowing; almost hypnotic in its fluidity. Prototype utilize just the right amount of musical progression, melodies and heaviness to keep most parties happy, and they don't get bogged down with ballads or long songs; 10 songs in 44 minutes here, with a few welcome respites into somber acoustics and thoughtful quiet segues. Trinity is nothing short of a prog metal classic, next to Transcendence, Rage For Order and Images And Words, and is worth every penny you need to spend to get it." Greg Pratt - BRAVE WORDS AND BLOODY KNUCKLES #59 04/2002 90/100 "This Los Angeles quartet is in my opinion the most promising "non Death Metal" band in North America that's come around in a long time, considering our fellow Quebec bound MARTYR as being more "Death Metal" than a few years ago. Trinity is an album that has already garnered an impressive number of favorable criticism from around the world, even though it was only released recently, after a long wait for a product realized by such pros. Indeed, so far only TOXIC Records from South America had the honor of distributing this treasure that is late to make itself known. My fiends, Vince Levalois' band (singer/guitarist of French origin, interviewed in our 2nd issue) offers you top quality in the technical thrash genre. Their music, an interesting and subtle mix, brings back old aural reflexes to the tune of CYNIC, ANACRUSIS and MESHUGGAH, including a plethora of older thrash groups, in the vein of the beginnings of METALLICA, TESTAMENT and METAL CHURCH, to which the band has paid homage in various Tribute albums. Once called PSYCHOSIS, the band had surprised us with their min-album CLONED (1999) (see www.mp3.com/prototype) with their dynamic assembly of diverse influences such as RUSH, STING and the previous bands mentioned. "Mind In Motion" had been my favorite piece out of the later. It is reprised in Trinity, harmonized, and well rendered. The album is aggregated by several good moments that make us repeatedly "rewind" the CD because it's too good. The song "Trinity" is a good greeting card for the group; solid rhythmic with an enviable crunch tone (long live Mesa Boogie!), drums with teeth (Pat Magrath, who has also played in Steel Prophet), and the voice of Vince that is more and more convincing, but more melodic than raspy, something Black Metal listeners don't usually appreciate. The middle instrumental section makes us think of what RUSH would have done after Moving Pictures (1981) had Alex Lifeson convinced Geddy Lee to let his hair grow back and to play less keyboards to let the guitar breathe! What an excellent passage. Kragen Lum's solos are just as tasty and to the point with a little touch of fusion here and there. "Dead Of Jericho", "Pure" and "Live A Lie" affect us directly and eventually, spiritually, with more good riffs, catchy and nostalgic I'd say, since I see PROTOTYPE as one of those rare groups that want to hail as messengers of an excellent generation of thrash bands that dissipated prematurely, or of those that still exist with the same name, without reason, in this immense turbulent sea that is the Music Industry." (translated from French) - Sylvain Latour aka "Tower" - Anti CJMM Record Reviews - Extreme Radiophobia Fanzine #4 (April 2002) "Here is a band that came to light when I was on the same top list as them. Believe it or not, but this is an American band that is serving this very European sound music. The band came into existence after the demise of Los Angeles band Psychosis. Demos and the whole thing have been coming and a spot on the Metallica tribute Overload was noticed. As another note, the band also has enlisted Pat from Killing Culture to pound the skins for this rather musical band. You must be prepared for power metal first off. Then if you love the more offbeat stuff, then this will impact you. Vince has a different and fresh voice, I must say . The thrashing is top notch to boot. Surely this band has roots in Fates Warning and Sieges Even area. One wonders why this isn't on a label with other shredders. "Live A Lie" is more commercial but a very effective start. "Pure" is just pure strong and heavy metal! Listen to how sick the drums sound. "Utopia" in a quick instrumental. "Trinity" has many curves just at the start. It then grows into a very catchy hyper track. That is another thing I liked a lot about this record. It stays on a very up side. "Shrine" is also filled with many catchy moments. "Dead Of Jericho" is one track that supplies a heavy crunch but gets much more jazzy. If those that loved the drums on that Primus Frizzle Fry record would dig this. Just listening tot his track and I'd say they are shooting for the big time. Oh how I miss those types of riffs. "I Know You (Part 1)" is a ballad that really puts themselves out there. Very acoustic and mellow kids. More of that European thrash sound of old creeps up as the guitars just take over here. Listen to how frantic it all can get as these guys go off with ease. This is the future of space metal. Very melodic piece of work here on "Mind In Motion". Many elements make it sound fresher for the times. "Relativity" brings it all to a progressive pounding ending. A band to all watch for in the now and in the future." HammerHead E-Zine www.hammerheadzine.com - Spring 2002 Issue "Trinity is an intense experience, from the first note to the last. Imagine Rush with a heavy dosage of old-school Metallica, and you get Trinity. Melodic and progressive, while at the same time, heavy and relentless. This is by far, my favorite CD from this year. I have had the pleasure of seeing Prototype live a couple of times in support of this album, and words fail to express how impressed I am by their music and their stage presence. If you get a chance to see Prototype whenever they swing by your town, do it, you won't be disappointed." Reviewed by Jackie Martin for www.metalhall.com 05/02 "Formed from the ashes of LA thrash band PSYCHOSIS, PROTOTYPE brings the progressive goods with this newest release called Trinity. Most of the songs here have an identity of their own and are fairly memorable, which is what I look for first in each and every album I review (because isn't that the stuff of great albums?). I must say that I like this CD. I was not familiar with PROTOTYPE at all outside of their Mp3.Com page, and I am gleefully surprised to find out that they don't suck at all. Their songs are incredible testaments of skill as well as craftsmanship, and this is a good thing. The one thing that probably makes the CD is the drumming. This drummer could probably shame most others. Also, the guitars are incredible without going into the shredded cheddar territory of, say, RHAPSODY. If you like your melodic metal very heavy and sometimes thrashy, and every bit as progressive as early DREAM THEATER, go for it. This melds thrash and power metal seamlessly, in true American power metal tradition. Once more, kudos go to whoever decided to license this one for the States. " Monsters World Of Metal (www.monstersworldofmetal.com) 7/10 - March 2002 "You don't know how pleased I was to see this band get signed after following them since their Psychosis days back in the early 90's. An aggressive, Progressive Metal band from California that sports such a unique sound, it's almost like a blast from the past when Swedish bands amazed us with their sound. Prototype is one of them underground bands that are highly underrated like Antithesis, Aska, The Quiet Room and Psyco Drama with no label signings at all or a very short stint with one. This release, "Trinity" is a 10-track gem that hits likenesses of Iced Earth, Nevermore, Rush, Dearly Beheaded, Mercyful Fate and Dream Theater thrown into a 3200° cauldron and melted together. A potent and aggressive poison for metalheads yearning for that "heavy as fuck" attitude but like to balance it off with some great melody. Prototype continues to write amazing and complex-timed songs and not a one track is bad on here I assure you and I emphasize that wholeheartedly." - Wayne Klinger - Quintessence Web Magazine 04/2002 "Anyone who thinks Dream Theater is cool but not heavy enough needs to get their mitts on the new album by Prototype. This is some really good, guitar-oriented prog metal. The riffing is reminiscent of older Metallica circa 1986 and even a bit of Nevermore both in feel and tone. This is combined with some complex structuring and melodic vocalizing making for a very cool listen. The clean guitar textures coming in and out of the songs add a good deal of depth and scope. I really like the feel of the melodies delivered by the singer and the guitarist. The drummer, like many prog metal drummers, is phenomenal. "What about the songs," you ask? Have no fear. These guys can write a memorable hook and go balls-out shred-happy with the best of them. Opening cut "Live A Lie" begins with a big, biting riff before diving into a stellar melodic verse with great vocal layers. The lead guitar work here is simply excellent and drives into a prog free-for-all instrumental section. One of the cool things about this band is that, despite their chosen genre, they tend to stick to relatively short songs. The longest track comes in at a modest (by prog standards) 6 minutes and 51 seconds. That track being "Dead Of Jericho." Most of the others float around the 4 or 5-minute mark, which is ample time for Prototype to prove itself. There are so many riffs in "Dead Of Jericho" you could get dizzy keeping up; the Tool-like breakdown is a nice touch as well. So many of the songs are loaded with tasty, technically superb playing that I'd probably get a bit redundant trying to describe them all. The quiet feel of "I Know You (Part 1)" breaks things up a bit with a great vocal melody and nice acoustic picking. The overall feel of the album is dark as well as aggressive; not as brooding as Zero Hour, but not as blithe as Dream Theater. Fans of prog metal should give this record a spin. The combination of thrashy riffing, melodic vocals and progressive arrangements should please fans of the genre worldwide." Shawn Pelata - www.digitalmetal.com 03/21/02 "This American Power Metal band has been around since 1994. PROTOTYPE released several demos and two EPs before finally recording Trinity, their first full length disc. This new disc is a significant improvement over their 1998 EP, Cloned. The production on Trinity is impressive, and the majority of the songs are much more engaging than those on Cloned. It is somewhat annoying, however, that Trinity contains three of the six songs on Cloned ("Shine", "Dead of Jericho", and "Mind in Motion"), especially since these tracks are not as good as most of the newer material. I have often seen PROTOTYPE described as a Progressive Metal Band, but I would not categorize them as such. In my mind, the best point of comparison for PROTOTYPE is NEVERMORE. I believe NEVERMORE is a better band than PROTOTYPE, but both bands showcase huge slabs of chunky, catchy riffage and interesting, varied drumming. PROTOTYPE is more upbeat than NEVERMORE, and their vocals do not soar like Warrel Dane's, but the similarity in sound is definitely present in my mind. Both bands exhibit progressive tendencies, most notably the drumming, but neither are intricate enough to earn the Progressive Metal label, in my opinion. Trinity starts out with a bang. The first track, "Live a Lie", is one of my favorites on the disc with its excellent crunchy riffing and catchy melodies. "Pure" has a slower tempo and is relatively simple, but its catchy groove, trade offs between acoustic and electric guitar, and great drumming makes this track interesting. The vocals on this track remind me of James Hetfield (pre-Boogie Rock phase) at times. "Utopia" is a decent short instrumental that leads into my favorite track on Trinity. The title track is similar in feel to "Live a Lie", but it is even catchier. I can't seem to get enough of "Trinity", a truly killer tune. "Shine" is the first Cloned-era song to rear its head on Trinity. I like this slower tempo track primarily because of the good rhythm section. The bass stands out in sections, and the drumming is interesting throughout the song. Unfortunately, the quality of the disc declines after "Shine". Tracks 6 through 8 do not do much for me at all. Track 9, "Mind in Motion", is another stowaway from Cloned. It is better than the previous three tracks, but it does not match the quality of the first half of the CD. The closing song, "Relativity", thankfully is more similar to songs like "Live a Lie" and "Trinity". It is not as catchy as those tracks, but it is still pretty engaging. Overall, Trinity is a good disc that I find myself listening to on a regular basis. I just wish the second half was as good as the first half. Hopefully, PROTOTYPE's next disc will be more consistently interesting. I strongly encourage all fans of thrashy American Power Metal (as opposed to cheesy Europower) to check out PROTOTYPE. They are definitely worth your time and money. You can find out more about them at www.prototypeonline.com." John Frank - The End Times 03/25/02 - 7.5/10 "You know what makes this a good CD? NO KEYBOARDS! Yeah, a Progressive-flavoured Thrash-attack and no keys. It's like, totally refreshing. This is a super-charged, kick-ass release, and I love the throw-back rhythm guitar-attack and the songwriting is bordering on perfection. The vocals at certain times go off key, but fuck. We listen to DARKTHRONE, right? Who cares about notes? I really like this CD. It is in all manner of speaking as top notch as anything else I have gotten in the past, well, a long time! Dudes! Killer shit!" - Wes - The Metal Observer - www.metal-observer.com 04/02 - 8.5 out of 10 "Prototype is a four piece band out of L.A. CA. Formed in 1994 from the remnants of Psychosis by Kragen Lum (guitar) and Vince Levalois (vocals & guitar). Prototype do a blend of Thrash and some acoustic prog. Some of their influences include Metallica, Flotsam & Jetsam, Dream Theater, Rush and Fates Warning. They have taken all the best parts of these and made it all their own sound. Rounding out the lineup is Pat Magrath (Killing Culture) on the drums and Kirk Scherer on bass. A crisp clean production make for a great listen on this guitar assault laced with acoustic interludes. The vocal style of Vince Levalois is clean with lush overdubbed harmonies. On this 10 track CD all songs are a great listen! This CD will get your attention!" - www.customheavy.com Darryl Basinger 02/26/02 "All I can say is, it's about damned time this came out. These guys have been writing some amazing progressive stuff for years, and only distributing it on their own. Now signed to WWIII / Artillery Music, this has some old songs and some new songs present, and all are great. They have an unique sound, unlike most progressive Metal bands whom all seem to be following the same format and have the same feel. Amazing release." - LAST EXIT FOR THE LOST RADIO SHOW - WVBR (Ithaca, NY) 2/22/2002 "Prog Power Thrash? Kind of like Watchtower only with cleaner vocals. More odd time signatures than Meshuggah on a good day! I cannot think of a band that plays metal with this level of complexity anymore! The vocalist has THE most powerful voice I have heard in a long ass time as well. The vocals are so clean that it could hold back this otherwise amazing band. I heard the band was going to look for another vocalist (I think so Vince could concentrate on Guitar), but have chosen to stay with the one they have. They should instead look for someone with just as strong a diaphram (damn fine voice), but with a slight bit more rasp. Otherwise I feel too many may improperly place them in with the overly saturated Prog/power scene. You can respect extremely well written songs with strong full vocals coming from a guy with one big ass set of lungs! This album won't be out in America for a couple of months, so I'm sure you will see it again in these pages. I am also going to make it the pick of the week for Dec 25th 2001. However, I don't think even that will give this band their fair due. There is no way in this trend controlled metal scene we live in that this band will get the recognition they so rightly deserve." ALBUM OF THE WEEK www.abrasiverock.com 12/2001 "90/100 - HOT! It is a true mystery how a group Prototype's caliber (ex-thrash band at the time called Psychosis) is still lacking a record deal, after three mini-CDs actively self-produced, participations in seven tributes albums (Metal Church, Testament, Rush, King Diamond, Iron Maiden, Metallica and Judas Priest) and various American tours, that have made them worth of the status of cult band and has brought them a considerable audience. Members at the top of the new generation of progressive American metal, Prototype (from Los Angeles) expose their most personal reinterpretation of the sort, with courage, and want to be new. They join the highest technical level with songwriting not too complicated (but made of fine passages and monstrous rhythm interlaces). They also utilize at times distorted and atypical vocal melodies, on the wave of what was done by Devin Townsend in its Strapping Young Lad and other succeeding projects. Modern, technological, winning and easy to learn songs that - under their apparent simplicity - hide an enormous effort in composition and a maniacal attention to detail (same as Dead Heart in to Dead World. by Nevermore, disc with many points in common to Prototype). A goal caught up with experience, if we think back to the first intricate and super-technical job Lifeforce. (1992). It is nice to also state that the thrash metal vein has not been killed, but that indeed it has succeeded to integrate itself perfectly with the progressive and melodic spirit of the four-piece, in one of the most effective and balanced mixtures that the history of the sort can recall! As expected, on this CD we find various traces coming from the previous work, newly arranged and recorded. These are Shine, Mind in Motion. and Dead of Jericho... "Trinity" is, after all, the best CD that Prototype has ever put forth (a must buy!), but I realize that the difficulty in finding a way to buy the CD will be a big problem... I'm sure though that after listening to some of the songs, you will do backwards flips in order to try to buy it! While we wait until Prototype decides to find a label and be distributed also in our continent (Europe), the only way to buy Trinity. (and the previous CDs) will be to acquire them through the official site situated at www.prototypeonline.com or other American Internet mail-order sites." - Alessio Oriani / ROT 'N' ROLL HEAVY METAL WEBZINE (Italy) 07/2001 "[PROTOTYPE] were founded in 1994 on the ruins of the thrash band Psychosis and have a new CD out entitled "Trinity". Intense, complex heavy metal with great melodies, that's what you can expect from songs like "Trinity" or "Live a lie". These songs need some time to develop their whole beauty, so take the time and listen carefully, these guys are extremely talented!" - Martin van der Laan / www.internet-metal.de (Germany) 11/01 "Ball One Strike Two Doubleplay - A Hard Salute (Sinbad Recordings) - Various Artists This CD is like the BallBuster Magazine brought to us by David LaDuke - it is overflowing, with over 140 minutes of hard music. The CD features former members of Dio, Accept, Talas, the Four Horsemen, Mortification and more. There is a mix of different sounds of heaviness - everything from death to progressive metal. It's all covered here! There is a lot of ground to cover on this disk, but the ones that really stand out are `Trinity" by Prototype - it has the feel of Fates Warning, with a cool mix of acoustic and electric guitar, good vocals.[...]" - -Laura Spalding / Louisville Music News 04/2001 "The acoustics of Prototype sets the mood, for the well-varied "TRINITY", with some excellent lead guitar." - Chris Horton -SpAsTiK dEaTh - 03/2001 "Prototype: an L.A. technical metal band that has been working hard since 1994 trying to get a deal. Well Protoheadz if Trinity doesn’t do it, what will? Prototype, has been steadily building their fan base since 1994. Vocalist/guitarist Vincent Levalois and guitarist Kragen Lum raised Prototype from the ashes of Psychosis, an L.A. thrash metal band. However, even after two demo/self released titles, 1994’s Seed and 1997’s Cloned, they still are without a record deal. It’s now 2001, and Prototype is releasing its third disk, Trinity. New to the lineup is bassist, Kirk Scherer, and drummer Pat Magrath, (KillingKultrure fame). Trinity sees Prototype taking its Cynic style progressive edge to a higher level. New songs have more hooks for fans to dig their teeth into. Also, Kirk’s heavy low end bass tone, and the bands on-stage use of samples and DAT recordings make Prototype a must see. Heavy traffic to the official website, www.prototypeonline.com, and downloads of new songs are indicative of how popular this bands new material is. Prototype - one of L.A.’s finest." - LACERATED MAGAZINE #2 - 04/2001 - www.lacerated.net "By the time "Trinity" (Track #4) bleeds into your ears for the first time, this Californian progressively-led foursome should have completed work on their finest piece of work, "Trinity." Rising up from the ashes of former L.A. thrashers Psychosis, Kragen Lum and Vince Levalois set forth to create the perfect "Prototype" for their new vision of boundary stretching yet aggressive music. Having first planted their "Seed" by way of an early demo which received worldwide praise, Prototype rounded out their current lineup and have toured with some of the biggest known names in the progressive/aggressive metal realm including, Fates Warning, Sacred Reich, COC and Nevermore! They can also be heard on the Progressive Arts Metal Church Tribute, "Metallic Hymns" dong the classic "Metal Church" which has already flooded the MP3 circuits for several months! Expect big things from this band in the very near future as they continue to press onward to create the ultimate heavy metal listening experience. " - BallBuster Magazine Compilation 01/2001 "Now Prototype is a band I've had the pleasure of seeing before. They're probably the best metal band out of LA, along with Carbon 9. They are a progressive, tight band with an industrial edge and a talent for catchy melodies and riffs. Somehow they're able to play their asses off and not sound self-indulgent or wanky. It's like Dream Theater meets Devin Townsend with Trent Reznor producing! [...]" - www.MetalCult.com 12/00 "USA based Prototype's "Trinity" is the heaviest track on this compilation album. It can be heard that this band formerly played thrash metal, so a comparison with Angel Dust is easily made. I looked for some more sound bytes of this band on the Internet and found some very nice things at MP3.com (just search for prototype). "Live A Lie" for example is another good song. One to watch!" - ROCK REPORT #46 - 10/2000 "Trinity by Californian Prototype is included as a preview of their upcoming album. Initially these guys come over as a pumped up version of Kansas, but raging guitar and double bass drums soon shatter that image. Powerful, yet sophisticated metal in a varied composition." DUTCH PROGRESSIVE ROCK PAGE 09/2000 "Prototype are a heavy prog metal band with a strong Metallica influence; so much so that the vocalist sounds like a dead ringer for a smoother voiced James Hetfield. Meaning the vocalist doesn't get a snarly and growly like Hetfield, but other than that, this could easily be Metallica if it were for the slight shift towards "melodic" metal (a la Angra, Rhapsody, etc.). There is a speed metal attitude to the verses, but during the bridge, it a clean, melodic guitar lines we hear. "Trinity" is not my favorite on this disk, but I do like it." - PROGRESSIVE WORLD - 07/2000 "[...}Prototype brings the chunkage with "Trinity", a power metal prog assault with tight, razor sharp guitar work that never fails to impress.[...]" (on the track for the DURP compilation Vol. 3, Germany) - ELECTRIC BASEMENT 06/00 "[...]Prototype's "Trinity" drives along with great fast riffing[...]" (on the track for the DURP compilation Vol. 3, Germany) - DETRITUS ZINE 06/00 "Starts off sounding like Rush and then moves into metal territory. Great energetic band with very interesting lyrics and chord progressions. Great drummer (frantic double bass drum playing) and superbly melodic contrasting guitar solo. Another one of our favorites." DURP ONLINE (GERMANY) www.durp.com 05/00 "Metal Church" tribute track review (from the Retroactive/Progressive Arts Music release "Loudest Times - An 80's Metal Tribute" - "Then the next band I know of from the Metalview Top 100, called Prototype. They try the impossible and do a Metal Church cover of the ultimate classic to my ears "Metal Church". They did much better than what I've been hearing."
