Artist History Born in Philadelphia, Lacy grew up in Winston-Salem, NC. As a child she began writing poems and stories. Her first instrument was the cello. At Swarthmore College Lacy found herself drawn to voice, dance and drama. She moved back to Philadelphia where she began to write songs and met producer Jim Gallagher, who had worked on projects for David Bowie, Stevie Wonder and Rory Block. With Gallagher's help Lacy began recording at the studios of Gamble & Huff Records. Her ten-song debut, Lovefeast, was received with enthusiasm by critics and audiences alike. Lacy has performed for enthusiastic audiences in Philadelphia, New York and Germany, and has also appeared with Isadora's Dance Legacy, Coyote Dancers, the Martha Graham Company's "Panorama" and in the lead role of "Nocturnae", a dance film chosen for public screening by several international film festivals.
