Artist description Directionless, narcissistic, post-teenage whiner with a surprisingly un-annoying and low, mellow voice. Some people sleep to it, some wake up to it. I can't imagine why. But then, I've been living with it for 22 years.

Artist History Started writing dumb, DUMB songs in 1993. Dumb but honest, like the works of Jewel, only more rockin'. Played with Alison Greenwald & Christie Rears, "Praying Mantis" : 1994-5. Maybe once or twice in somebody's bedroom in Arlington, for the hell of it. Started performing @ College of William and Mary, 1997. Small following of dedicated exuberant souls and bosom buddies, not to mention criticism from certain periodicals for supposedly off-color jokes about Karen Carpenter. Side project "Cricketer" : early 1999... atmospheric Britpop plus a few KateR originals. Played in a Williamsburg garage & that's about it. Currently flying solo in Alexandria, but getting nowhere because I don't like to fly.

Group Members Kate Rears, some monkeys & robots. Maybe also the spirits of a few random ex-non-boyfriends. I wish they'd sod off.

Instruments vox, guitar, bass, cello, invisible inaudible theremin. Cello seems a lie too, actually, but I do play it.

Additional Info Painfully obsessed with Dave Grohl, to the point where it is humorous but hopefully not scary. Oh, you mean musical info. Let's see: Don't try to e-mail me and tell me that I need direction, not even if you're an A&R rep trying to take me under your wing. I don't know when I'll be ready for a music career -- if Avril Lavigne is indeed an "original," then I want nothing to do with this business. Poop on that.
