Artist description
Day of the Iguana plays an aggressive blend of modern hard rock infused with elements of funk, metal and pop-alternative.But the music is only half of DOTI's formula for success. The other half is the live show experience. Don't be surprised when fireworks explode and the stage lights up like a UFO - smoking and ready to blast off on a rock and roll journey to the stratosphere! |

Artist History

O.k., back to the story...Day of the Iguana began as a group of music loving friends who agreed that something was missing in the local Mobile, Alabama music scene. There were simply no true rock and roll acts in the pubs downtown or near the college campus. Roy Truxillo , Brian Graves and brothers Chris and Michael Banker made a pact one historic New Years Eve, 1990, that the four of them would be the rock band that they had longed to see - one that was flamboyant and dramatic, loud and clear, heavy and groovy, and most of all played music that the audience couldn't help but get into. The band adopted the philosophy that every show must leave the audience feeling a combination of elation, amazement, wonder, and ultimately, satisfaction. Club owners and college entertainment committees throughout the Southeast have since learned that Day of the Iguana leaves a powerful impression! Drawing from influences such as The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Van Halen, Alice in Chains, Kiss, and Soundgarden the fresh blend of alternative rock and classic concert showmanship never fails to leave people talking and wanting more. After a couple of years developing their sound, style, and a devoted following, Day of the Iguana decided it was time to make a record for its legions of fans.Smooth is that recording. Having a record in a standard radio-friendly format and comercial packaging proved to be the catalyst to gaining a much larger audience and fan base. Day of the Iguana continued to tour the region for almost two years leaving dropped jaws in their wake. During this time they opened for several national acts including Drivin' and Cryin, Dead Eye Dick, Cake, and 10,000 Maniacs. Thousands of copies of Smooth were sold along with t-shirts and stickers designed by friends of the band. A sponsorship by a Lousiana brewery The Abita Brewing Company was also enjoyed. The last show of the Smooth tour was ironically on the sixth anniversary that the band had begun this great journey - New Years Eve. Soon after 1996 was rung in, the southestern rock and roll trend-setters decided it was time to take some time off to completely re-invent themselves by writing tons of new material and getting a bigger, better sound system and light show. They would also use 1996 to record a full-length CD - DOGMA? This twelve-track album was released in May of 1997 on the independent Graveyard Productions label. It includes favorites "Ready for the Rain", "Hope", "Game Over", and the epic "Into the Sky".Day of the Iguana continues to play in the southeast and is currently working on a new project that will hopefully be finished by early summer, 1999. |
