Artist History
Cynthia Barber is originally from Denver, Colorado. Her mother taught her to sing at an early age, having been in bands herself as a young woman in Oklahoma. Her Dad ran a contest between the siblings to see who could learn to play a song on the guitar first. He imagined that the winner would then go on to entertain guests and hands on the family ranch outside of Denver. Cynthia won the contest. That must have sparked a desire to write songs and play for people. At 19 she took off for London where she sang and played in a run down casino, knowing only a handful of songs and playing them poorly. She would hide in the kitchen for most of the evening. She was eventually fired, but retained the desire to sing and play. Arriving in Chicago, she met some players, and for the last 12 years or so has been going through them like a beaver on a log. (She's difficult to work with). She has found her home with this band; a diverse and talented group of players who love to play. They are currently previewing new songs on Mp3 let them know what you think! Thank you all for your emails and your support! |
