Artist description
Scotty Marz Kingsize USA / Barely Legal Records, CTFew artists today have accomplished what Scotty Marz has. Whether he is composing original tracks, producing, writing, remixing hits for others, or blowing away the masses with his live turntable skills, this New England based DJ/Producer/Renaissance Man, has been doing it with his own unique style. With influences ranging all over the musical spectrum like Afrika Bamabata, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Kraftwerk and artisticly divers as director Stanley Kubrick, and painter Jackson Pollack making up Scotty's musical stew it is evident that he will be remembered as risk taker and groundbreaker like his heros. "...certain words can have different meanings to different people...I want people to come away from my music with their own ideas..." says Marz of his musical vision.Growing up in CT as a Progressive House/Breakbeat/ DJ(Marz refers to his hard to categorize sound as "Funky Beats", Scotty began promoting his own club/rave events to showcase his talent. "...the events I produced were a way for me to show my work like an artist would in a Gallery...but in my corner of the world there were no gallerys showcasing turntablists...". This knack for self promotion brought huge underground acclaim and a loyal following to Scotty's work and allowed him to share the stage with legends like Dave Ralph, Christopher Lawrence, The Crystal Method, Bad Boy Bill, Superstar DJ Keoki, Paul Johnson, DJ Rap, Mixmaster Mike, Rabbit in the Moon, Bassbin Twins, Frankie Bones, DJ Icey, David Morales, DJ Dan, Derrick Carter, and far too many more to name. With his live talents heralded by the crowds and his blistering tracks and remixes getting critical acclaim Scotty was courted by and signed to the prestigious ESP-SUN label and has since done his thing for labels like BML, Caffeine, BMG, and Logic 3000. His original tracks including "Acid or XTC" (recorded as King-Size), "Two for the Time" (as Supreme Hustlers), "One to the Head" (as Buzz Fiend) which was featured on The Digital Empire Compilation along with a "whos who" of electronica.have become dancefloor anthems and are often found sampled or in full length on albums from admiring artists including Superstar DJ Keoki. His production and remix skills have been showcased on tracks by artists like Love Inc (which stayed on Billboard dance charts for 10 weeks), Junkie XL, Southside Reverb, and from acts as ranging from pop diva Debbie Gibson to hardcore metal masters like Fear Factory. By this time "electronica" was a term no longer tagged to an unknown and rarely seen music scene, but a multi million dollar business. Scotty has matured with his music and continues to work on new musical projects like his new track "All the Ho's" which has already been called "one of the best breakbeat tracks ever" by a respected radio DJ/Mixer Magazine contributor. Scotty Marz and his now internationally known marketing/design team King-Size USA continue to promote live events including this years Supreme Beings, New Englands Largest Rave to date, and last years sold out Community Service Tour starring Orbital, The Crystal Method, and The Lo-Fidelity Allstars and DJ Jon Kelly. If that isn't enough Scotty Marz is now the Co-Host of his nationally broadcasted live radio show on WLIR which sends his musical message to NY, NJ and CT on 92.7FM/98.5FM and all over the world at www.wlir.com and www.raveworld.net. Scotty was chosen to be featured as Mixer magazines "On The Verge" artist for June 2000.In closing, Scotty Marz is more than just a DJ/Producer and promoter, but a modern day renaissance man. At his current rate the time you spend reading this biography it will make it out of date so keep your eyes and ears open for this major force in todays music. Scottys ability to shape the sounds of today's issues and his uncanny ability to get the dancefloor jumpin' will undoubtedly take him where he was always meant to be: AT THE TOP!For further information please contact Matt Hanrahan @212.254.5116 |
