Artist History
Salt of the Earth have been performing up and down the U.K. for the last seven years. The venues have ranged from the Rock Garden at London's Covent Garden, to Band on the Wall at Manchester. From Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral to Cheltenham racecourse. In November 1997, Future Publishing's national 'Band' magazine, launched a competition to find 'the best unsigned band in Britain'. Salt of the Earth beat more than a thousand other bands to take the title of ' best unsigned band in Britain '. Band magazine wrote ' Of course, in the immortal words of Sean Connery, there can be only one. It was never going to be easy with four so excellent and stylistically different bands, but Salt of the Earth took the honours for pure songwriting sparkle. Congratulations to ' the Salts ', who took home a gold microphpone as well as £2000.00 worth of equipment and studio time.' |
