Hello and welcome to the world of LIFE TRIP. LIFE TRIP celebrates its 10th year anniversary in 2003. A live retrospective "Live Edition" and a studio retrospective with a new composition "Unknown Journey" are the CD releases for this year. 2002 saw LIFE TRIP continuing to perform around 100 shows a year, released two CD's: a live CD with guest appearances from members of NONE THE WISER and The SKELLINGTONS called "World of Evil" and a follow up to "Chronicles" "Chronicles II". Check out LIFE TRIP on the web @ www.mp3.com/lifetrip and lonelygoat.com/lifetrip. LIFE TRIP was started in Greensboro, NC by Chip Symonds (vocals, keyboard, sax, flute, guitar, bass)[1993]. Originally a solo project, LIFE TRIP released two cassettes(full length) and an EP(7"vinyl). LIFE TRIP EP-1993, Astrolabe-1994, Passage-1995. In 1996 the "Adobe Ride" cassette was released with the help of Rob Brame on bass and guitar. Rob co-wrote the song "Zero Gravity" along with Chip. For the 1st CD "Mental Travelers" Chip wrote some of the material with Rob as well as percussionist Mark Wagoner [1997]. In preparation for the next CD "Tranquillity" (2000) LIFE TRIP did some shows with original Grateful Dead keyboard player Tom Constanten, influencing the highly jam based sound now developing in the group. Over 100 shows followed, a radio appearance on the Carolina show-Guilford College, and web cast from the Brewery Raleigh,NC. on the Digital Club Network (www.digitalclubnetwork.com). The CD "Cosmic Boogie" (2001) has a "psychedelic jazz-rock-folk" feel recorded live with Raphael Schiavone on drums, Malcom Fields on bass and background vocals, and Chip Symonds on guitar, sax, flute, and vocals. Also in 2001 a CD of studio material from 1993-1999 was released called "Chronicles".

    Press Reviews
Life Trip is a progressive, "indie" folk-rock group that has come up with an amazing collection of songs in the band's new release, Chronicles II, which encompasses songs recorded from 1993-1999. As you listen to the music, you feel as if you're floating on a river filled to overflowing with sensuous melodies and harmonies. You feel completely relaxed listening to the catchy tunes that bear the marks of other great musicians such as Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, the Doors and Genesis. These tracks provide a warm, '70s feel that comes alive with instrumentation, notably the flute and saxophone, though the lead singer's vocals are also extremely pleasant. Some songs, such as "Crash and Burn" (which is perhaps my favorite because of it's carefree, catchy melody) is bouncy and is most like pop music, while other tunes are jazzy, moody and sensual. Chip Symonds, the life force of Life Trip, is a singer-songwriter whose vocals are wonderful to listen to and is accomplished at the multitude of instruments that he plays, including but not limited to sax, flute and keyboards. Anyone who handles such a vast number of instruments as well as he does deserves recognition. Definitely give this CD a shot. It's absolutely wonderful.[ by Melissa Kowalewski ]Rambles: 4 May 2002 I LOVE "Cosmic Boogie." I can't wait to delve into everything else.-Jeri Roe Editor Style Magazine.
