    Artist description
Hailing from Orange County, the breeding ground of numerous diverse musical styles, Fairview is rapidly developing a unique sound, a devoted following, and a substantial industry buzz. "Rumored to be the best band in Orange County" (O.C. Weekly 6/14/00) These five members construct a melodic blend of indie rock and emo, but maintain that despise being labeled as a certain genre. Farivew does not want to be pigeonholed in any one style, rather they seek to push their musical boundaries and explore many different sounds and styles of music. With this said their sound has been compared to the likes of Weezer, the Get Up Kids, Jimmy Eat World, and the Smashing Pumpkins, to name a few. While this may be said, Fairview is not derivative. They craft a unique sound by combing slashy, crunchy guitars with melodic keyboards and heavy drums. Fairview was formed in October of 1999 by Bob, Sean, and Trevor. They quickly added Grace then Adam joined a few months later. Since they became a fully functional band they've received a great deal of attention based largely on the merit of their demo CD and their energetic live performances. Fairview's plans for the future are to tour extensively in support of their self produced EP, "We'll Dodge It On the Way Back", slated to be released in February 2001.

    Artist History
Fairview began as a whim towards the end of 1999. Three friends, Bob, Trevor and Sean began writing songs for fun. The idea of being a real band was never fully realized at this point, it was kind of just a pipe dream. When they songs started gettingbetter and they got tighter, it was obvious that it was going somewhere. Bob started his fall semester at Chapman and that's where it all began. He soon met Grace, who shared his love for music. After hanging out for a while it was decided that we would try her out. She was great and it was almost instantly decided that she would be in the band. Many days and nights followed, a lot of hard work and sweat, a lot good times and bad; It has all been amazing nonetheless. Our first show, December 19th, 1999 at the Kilby court in Utah was only a week away when our original bassist decided to pull out. With only two practices under his belt, Bob's brother Eric learned the songs and went on the road with them. Although there was a lot of last minute worrying and bitching, the show went off better than theyexpected. Their next show, December 21st, 1999, was in Steamboat, CO. They playedin the mid chalet lodge on the mountain and were all excited. It sounded really fun. It wasn't. The show was so unprofessional that the rest of the trip was pretty much unsalvageable. When they got back into town, they had no plans for playing anymore shows until they had a permanent bassist. Their plans changed quickly. Upon arrival, they received a call to play a show at the Glasshouse in Pomona. The show was accepted in the assumption that they would have a bassist by the time the show. It was a month away. One of Trevor's friends, David (aka Pfieffer) agreed to help them out. He didn't want to be a permanent addition however as he was dedicated to his own band, the Real Diego. He practiced with them a couple of times and assured them that he would be ready to play. He was, kind of. That show went well even though David only learned "most" of the songs. Since then Fairview has recorded a demo and picked up a full time bassist, Adam Fight. He's fiesty and fun, and looks an awful lot like Tim Robbins. Anyway, Since picking up Adam, things have gone incredibly well. They now have a boooking agent (royal flush) and a management company (the council) who are both doing amazing things for them. Fairview's plans for the near future are to record and release a DIY six song EP and tour extensively along the West Coast.
