Artist description Scang has always been one of the biggest acts in russian underground scene. This band is known with their scandals and true in your face shows. The line-up has changed many times since the birth of the band back in 1995. Now it seems the perfect. Their music style has always evolutioned. From almost death-metal / hardcore band they have become a real grown band with their very own style and sound. From the raw growling they developed to a strong pure vocal. Now they use many different elements in music, influenced by many different ethnic, electronic and ofcourse metal sounds. They don’t like to label their style. But now they are one of the most exciting bands on the russian nu-metal scene (as it called in magazines and radio). Scang recently took the new vocalist in the camp, the third one in their history and actually the strongest. The band has its own record label and the festival helping other bands to be heard. Now they make tours in Russia and Scandinavia and look forward to hit Europe.

Artist History SCANG was created in 1995 in St.Petersburg, Russia. The first demo-tape ..Sociology.. was recorded in 1995. It sonded more like death-metal/hardcore style, very raw. Anyway, SCANG moved more deep into hardcore style. It had really hardcore riffs with lots of rapping, growling and singing. The first full-length album ..Dark Side.. was recorded in this line up in 1996. All the lyrics were in english. In 1999 the new album ..Self Enemy.. was recorded on the ..Dobrolyot.. studio. It was certainly the second album not considering the demo but in practice it was the first serious conceptual work of the band, from the first up to the last note gained and embodied by SCANG. The group begins active tours, representing the new album ..Self Enemy.. album was released on the ..Fono.. label in February 2000. The cd contains also three remixes as bonus tracks and a multimedia video of a song ..Not Here.. The video for the first single ..Not Here.. was shown on MTV Russia. Now it can be seen on Petersburg or Moscow and regional cable channels. The band had a lot of live shows and many big festivals with the known alternative artists of Russia, such as Bricks, IFK, Tequilajazzz, Dolphin, Tracktor Bowling, Buttweizer, Dai Pistolet!, 5 Corners and many others.

Press Reviews NEW ALBUM ..NOISE IN THE HEAD.. RELEASED ON JUNE 8th, 2003.............The first single was ..Above the Neva.. It has arrived earlier on many russian radiostations such as Radio Roks, Nashe Radio, online radiostations and some compilations. The sound of the album is more experimental than the earlier works. But still heavy and melodic. The name of the album (Noise in the head) comes from psychiatric termin which means a strong illness with different visual and sound hallucinations. The band used a lot of samples which hardly can be heard, but that sounds can influence the brain (in a positive way). Besides the electronics some ethnic instruments were also used on the record such as digeridu, jambas and egyptian flutes. The album includes 3 instrumental songs and 1 mix of the Dubsinthe project as a bonus track.
