Artist History
Noisecandy formed in 1993 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Originally a recording project for ex-House Levelers' Pete Ficht and Sterling Roig, it developed into a full band. Focusing on the songs Pete wrote after the House Levelers' break-up, their cd, "Hope" was released in 1994 on St. Roch Records. Roig left to play drums for Geffen Records recording artist James Hall. Ficht formed a full band with drummer Paul Distler, bassist Eric Haarbauer, and guitarist Rhoades. After performing and touring throughout the South for 2 years the band broke up. They recorded some demos, which became the unreleased "Despair" cd. In 1995 Pete moved to Portland, Oregon and restarted the band with new members Thaddeus Dennison on guitar, and Steve Hess on drums (also playing with Ficht in Joy Pop Turbo). The Portland version of Noisecandy released the "Delaware" 7-inch and recorded a cd of unreleased demos, "Debasement Tapes". The band broke up for good in 1997. |
