Artist description
Powerful guitar pop band, fronted by singer/songwriters Jody Garner and Heather Savoy. Anchored by the dynamic rhythm section of Pete Ficht and Steve Hess, Joy Pop Turbo rocks harder than their name implies. Jody's and Heather's light and airy lead vocals contrast sweetly with their heavy, driving, sometimes dissonant guitar playing. Great hook-filled songs and cool band arrangements. Oh, did I mention they rock? |

Artist History
Formed in 1996 after the dissolution of their previous band Phineas Gage, singer/songwriter/guitarists Jody Garner and Heather Savoy formed Joy Pop Turbo with the addition of Steve Hess on drums and Pete Ficht on bass. They played frequently in Portland and throughout the Pacific Northwest, and eventually recorded a lo-fi self-titled 7-song cd E.P. It was released on their own label, Static Records, in 1997. In 1998 they recorded a 2-song cd single with producer Tony Lash (The Dandy Warhols). They broke up early in 1999. |
