Artist History
The band General Tso's burritto, in the last year, has seen more tragedy than any band I know. On December 22 of 1999, their good friend and original drummer, Jimbo, died at the age of 18 of heart complications. Despite this terrible loss, it brought the band and their friends closer together. The band stayed together- Jesse took over on drums, and they now dedicate the band and their music to his memory. In the summer of 2000 they along with their friends Loko and the now defunct Jenna Marie dedicated a concert to their lost friend. The show was not only a huge success, but one of the best shows I have ever been to. The high point of the night was when Jimbo's dad Scott, and Will from Excess Enemy joined the band in singing Bro-Hymn.G.T.B had a very busy summer, playing many shows for Whaley Productions, partying, and proving that a hard-core band from Glenwillard and their friends can out fight, out drink, and out smoke any lame assed mother fucking rock stars out there. Then they experienced another downfall-their long time friend and original guitarist Pat Kanzler, burnt out from practice, shows and personal reasons, quit the band. Again the future of the band was in question, and once again they overcame the odds. They picked up Aaron Duell from Jenna Marie and started back on their way. They played more shows and recorded a demo, which has yet to be released. Recently another close friend of theirs, Seechman, passed away ; and through all these ups and downs they keep going, for Jimbo, their friends, their families, they keep going. Not everything that happens to the band is a tragedy, they recently reunited with Pat Kanzler who now sings and writes some of the lyrics. They all told me to put that without their friends they would be nothing. I, myself, have learned from them that no matter how bad things get it, keep going and never give up. The word quit doesn't seem to be in their vocabulary and no matter what kind of mountains they have to climb or what hand are dealt, their bond of friendship is strong, even stronger than death. In the time that I've worked and hung out with them I know that they are true to their to the friends and their music. They don't put emphasis on becoming superstars, put their cadance on staying HARD-CORE. |
