Artist History
Formed in Kansas City, Missouri in 1998 by David George and Desmond Ramos after the demise of their ill-fated previous bands. Their first show was at the Spirit Festival (under the name Engine) sharing the same stage as artists such as Moby, Gravity Kills, Violent Femmes, Local H, and others in the 100+ degree Midwest Labor Day weekend sun. A combination of amazing melodies/hooks and searing guitar playing they make it a goal to give every band they share the stage with a run for their money. Recently having opened for such bands as Buck Cherry, Oleander, House of Large Sizes, and Dovetail Joint. Signed to Veronica Records in December 1999 and released their present album "Wonderful" in the summer 2000. Spending over half the year on the road playing clubs and large venues around the Midwest. |

Press Reviews
"Moaning Lisa's debut release, "Wonderful," available on Veronica Records, combines introspective songwriting with killer guitar riffs and drumbeats. Songs such as "Knee Deep" and "Goodbye, Mr. Wonderful" walk a fine line between Outhouse and Collective Soul and "Good Intentions" is the sort of song R.E.M. would have written if they had listened to Rush." Nick Spacek, The Zone 3/1/2001 "Wonderful (album) is an appealing, well-groomed collection of lively hard-pop/modern rock tunes that will remind you of a few bands - everyone from Semisonic and Foofighters to Everclear." Tim Finn, The Kansas City Star 7/8/2000 "Towering vocals that give listeners jolts of intensity as the choruses hit their focal points." Pitch Weekly 7/13/2000" After a few listens to the debut disc by Moaning Lisa, I have come to the simple conclusion that this disc flat out rocks!" Synapsis 2000" |
