Artist History
After releasing a self-financed solo album, Northern Dream, in 1971, Bill Nelson’s career took off with 70’s art-rockers Be Bop Deluxe. After five studio albums, Bill broke up Be Bop Deluxe to embrace a changing musical scene. Briefly switching gears with the New Wave-inspired Red Noise in 1979, Bill formed his own label in 1980 and focused more on instrumentals, soundtracks, boxed sets, and collaborations with a wide range of respected musicians. The 1990’s brought a renewed interest in guitar-oriented songs, the availability of over 100 previously unreleased recordings, and was part of ambient/art-pop’s Channel Light Vessel for two albums. In recent years Bill has been writing an online diary, completing a video compilation for DVD release, and has a 6CD boxed set of new material set for release called “Noise Candy”. Bill’s latest CD is called Whistling While The World Turns. Simplex, music which comprised the soundtrack to a British TV film on late sculptor Henry Moore, will be released in early 2001 after a 13 year delay. |
