I love your music AND your voice.Your type of Country stands out for simplicity and immediacy. If you refine a bit on the production, your songs can stand shoulder to shoulder with any big bucks American Country record. Congratulations and my very best regards. Diego Bosco Producer/Director terra @ustralis music Independent New Music Producer & On-Line Distributor ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "For a bloke who only started singing and songwriting four years ago, Rick.E.Nelson is doing fine. This CD, I'LL DO MY BEST, showcases 12 exampleS of his work.Rick says that he has written so many songs it wasn't a case of what to put on it, but what to leave off.He even has songs under consideration by some Nashville artists. This is good quality music - some songs swing a little towards Folk rather than Country Music, but I enjoyed listening to it.Rick has struck just the right balance between his vocals and backing and I would suggest you would be in for an enjoyable musicial experience if you got yourself a copy of this CD.(38 mins)Rick's website: http://rickenelson.freeyellow.com"Paul Rowe "Country Music Capital News June 2001 Sound Advice" ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "RICK E NELSON "I'll Do My Best" SONGS:I'll Do My Best: Old Man's Shoulders, Sally Jenson, Weddin' Gown, The Pick Up, So Close To Perfect, He Made Country Rock, Lonely Town, Blue Mountain Water, Wendy's Wantin' Me, Tired Of Tagging, Emi Loves Pete, Take Two Ladies. Rick E Nelson is an Australian artist who only started singing and song writing four years ago, but he has made up for lost time, having written over 350 songs and become a semi-finalist in the National TSA Songwriting competition, and now one of the winners of the National Songsearch competition. These are country songs, given a simple mainly acoustic backing. Rick E Nelson has a very pleasant voice, and tells many stories here, all with nice melodies that are easy on the ear. I liked the cheerful "Weddin' Gown" when a single man came into town, and the girl needing a husband was told to get out her wedding gown. We get a touch of Eastern promise in "Lonely Town" which talks about meeting a girl in China town. "Blue Mountain Water" reminded me of waking up in a campsite in the Blue Mountains to find possums beating out a rhythm on the roof. My pick was the gentle "Emi Loves Pete", a heart shape cut in a willow tree with the words "Emi Loves Pete", the memory of two lovers who used to live in the logging town. A nice album bringing back some nice memories. "Why Be So Blue" it starts out with a fingerpicked, or quickly flat picked acoustic guitar with some reverb it sounds, this is played throughout the song, .. it is catchy, quick, and melodious... then the singer comes in with a high amount of reverb.. the voice is mellow, am i hangliding over the appalachians? because I feel like I am... damnit, no I'm in front of my computer, but this song is spectacular to say the least.. there are great little fills with quickly played classical guitar, and I could see a moonlit dance with two beautiful brunettes in white dresses with their fingers flickering about like they just dont care, they match the song perfectly... The lyrics are simple but so very perfect, i wouldn't change a word.. the production = superb.. once again, am I in a field of poppies falling asleep from too much opium pollen while elves play sweet flute music for me? ... nope, back on my computer... i wouldn't even consider this country, this is just great music.. my favorite so far that i have reviewed by far.. job well done! 9.3 out of 10, a little back up vocal maybe for a line or two wouldnt have been out of place, but other than that it is too good... LISTEN TO THIS! Ryan mp3.com/acoustic_epitomy ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ REVIEW BY LA MUSIC PRODUCER OF Alien Ant Farm, Sugar Ray, Godsmack etc ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Rick E. Nelson sounds like Roy Orbison meets Mariachi music and old italian folk songs. Mr. Nelson has an awesome vocal presence! His voice draws the listener deeper into the music with every verse. He has a very solid approach and is obviously well trained. Nelson knows every twist and turn his voice can accomplish and uses them sparingly to convey the messgae behind this quirky, bouncy song. The guitar playing in She's Not That Nice is also very accomplished. The runs and solos fit neatly into the music without being too intrusive. All in all a very good song. 8 out of 10.
