Artist description
This is an mp3.com compilation page built to provide a resource for hearing all sorts of music built from field recordings. A field recording is the recording of an environment: natural, urban, and anything in between. It can be a recording of the wind blowing, heavy machinery, people talking, animals, or just about anything else you may hear when you're out and about. The artists on this page record these things, then manipulate them to create new music. If you would like to contribute a track to this page, send an email to mattdavignon@hotmail.com or use the "contact" link on this page. See "Artist History" for submission rules. |

Artist History
For a song to be included on this page, it must follow the following project rules: 1) You cannot play an instrument or sing in the track. You can't instruct others to perform either. You also can't use recordings of your own songs playing from a stereo. All the sounds you use must be from recordings you make outside of your house. You CAN use recordings of street musicians, strangers humming to themselves, strangers beating on things, etc. You CAN'T use sounds of your favorite band playing a paid show. 2)The field recordings must be made by you or a friend/associate of yours. (You can't use a Sound FX CD.) 3) You can manipulate and sample/sequence the sounds as much as you want to make your track. Submissions can be posted on the internet as an mp3 or .wav file, or mailed to me in the form of a cassette or CD containing .wav files, mp3 files, or audio tracks. I cannot take tracks sent by FTP or any other direct file transfer (sorry). Contact me for a mailing address. Contributions that clearly break these rules (or simply have nothing to do with them) will simply not be posted. In order for me to post your track here, it can't be posted on another mp3.com page. I will provide links to the mp3.com pages of artists who contribute tracks. |
