Artist History
Les Brooks—a rare find in Austin, not for his singing and picking, then certainly because he was actually born in Austin. He started guitar lessons at age 7 with Dick Gimble, son of Johnny Gimble, and later studied with multi-instrumentalist guru Danny Barnes. Les’s first albums were “KC and the Sunshine Band” and “C.W. McCall”—this explains SO much, if you think about it. For a great laugh, get Sean to show you the video collection of their “early years” (he’ll only show it at parties with many, many folks watching.) Les lends his songwriting, lead vocals, guitar picking, and his middle name (Jefferson) to the band. Sean Eason—originally hails from the greater Silsbee metropolitan area, encompassing such cities as Buna, Lumberton, and Fred, TX. You can imagine that he’s still adjusting after these 8 years to the bright lights of Austin. He met Les shortly after arriving in town & has endured being a member of both Since Nixon and Half Street, the later receiving international press and airplay (we hear Sean coined the phrase “we’re big in Sweden.”) He draws his inspiration from honky tonk heroes to rock guitar gods and all points in between. Sean lends his songwriting, backing vocals, lead guitar, and (not to be outdone) his middle name (Truett) to the band. Andrew Silver—found his way to Austin via New Orleans, LA. Along the way he managed to find the music of Brian Blade, Count Basie, James Brown, and Shelly Berg (we hear he also finds many of the drum beats for Jefferson Truett from his special, hidden video collection.) We’ve caught him performing with other Austin bands such as the Ron Scott Trio, Max Shippee Quartet, and the Colleen Morrison Project (we promise to put a stop to him if he tries the Andrew Silver Sextet again.) Andrew plays the drums, the wall, and, well, anything within reach.Jodi Jenkins—was born & raised in Levelland*, TX. After becoming a child star on the local livestock circuit (we have pictures,) she decided make the leap to Austin. Though not a stranger to the country lifestyle, she was a stranger to the music—influenced instead by the Rolling Stones, Pixies, and Duke Ellington. For those looking to win her heart, her interests are horses, art, long walks on the beach…(you get the point.) We hear she plays a mean classical piano, but Jefferson Truett keeps her confined to backing vocals and upright bass slapping. *She makes no apologies about Levelland, but the rest of the band does. Rob Albertson—moved to Austin by way of the cultural epicenter of the world, Orlando, Fl. Though difficult to believe, he found very few in Florida who shared his love of Uncle Tupelo, Townes Van Zandt, and all things bluegrass. We hear other bands in town put up with his crap, such as the Atomic Outlaws (though they had to change his name to Grady) and Bonnie Bishop (we give it a few more weeks.) He is still mourning his loss of innocence after recently purchasing a cell phone. Though we’re not sure why, he plays mandolin, banjo, dobro, and lap steel for Jefferson Truett. |
