Artist History
From the time that she could climb up onto the piano bench, music has been a part of Janice's life. She began learning to play the piano before she could reach the pedals or even read. When she was 13 her mother bought her a guitar for her birthday. She quickly learned the basics, and took off.
During high school, calling her guitar her "six-string psychiatrist", Janice wrote songs on both guitar and piano, using music as her escape. In 1994 she joined her first band "Turning Point" a busy Christian rock band that performed throughout the state of Utah. It was with Turning Point that Janice truly began to hone her songwriting craft. Then in 1998 she briefly hooked up with "Night Bird", a three-piece acoustic project.
It has just been in the past couple of years that Janice has found her true musical identity, as she reached into the piano and pulled out her soul. She stepped into "The Magic Closet" and found her niche, now writing with equally talented artist and producer Ryan Freeman.
Her latest efforts include two separate projects with something for almost all musical tastes. Her solo project, consisting mostly of new age piano instrumentals, has been compared to David Lanz, Jim Brickman, and Paul Cardall. "Solstice", Janice's new four piece band, is an alternative rock project which draws heavily on her influences from Tori Amos, Paula Cole, and the like.
