Artist History
FMLY
Biography
Since winter of 1999, FMLY (pronounced family) has stained the music world with their brand of noise. Their music is of experience, heavy and deep rooted. FMLY has been described as Alternative Metal or Hardcore yet they support variations of hardcore, metal, rock, punk, and emo, making this Seattle, Washington band unique to any genre. Chad Driscoll, staff writer for Listen.com says, “Fury and rage are a matter of form in nu-metal. They are conventions, tropes -- which means that most nu-metal sounds neither furious or raging. FMLY are the exception: their music sounds truly menacing. The vocals snap from razor-toothed jaws. The guitars are explosive enough to rend the flimsy fabric of your reality. Fear this band."
2002 marks the anticipated release of FMLY’s first full-length album, “Host”, which boasts a sentiment both personal and provocative while deliberating unsettling sounds of growth and progress. FMLY, with the help of Jagermeister, is currently touring in support of the album, first concentrating on the region, then moving down the coast by year’s end.
Founded by Brandon Petersen (guitar/vocals), Matt Corwin (guitar/vocals) and Andrew Duffek (drums), FMLY soon recruited Portland area lead man Reid Miller. 2002 brought the newest member of the FMLY, George Vochatzer on bass. FMLY, in it’s short life, has secured sponsorship with Jagermeister, garnered regional radio airplay and has played such high profile shows as the Tex Games, Oberg Fest, and the Thrasher Magazine Funbox Tour.
With hundreds of tenacious live shows under their belt, a DIY work ethic, and a full-length album they are proud of, FMLY is fast becoming a favorite, ready to expose itself to the world.
