    Artist History
A long time ago in the town of Lawrence, KS, there was a high school kid named Andy.He could play guitar and a little piano. He kicked around in bands with his freind Jason, who played bass. They hung out with Dan Cook and Brian G from the bubble boys, and sometimes Chris Bulgren played drums. One day Andy was at some debate (he was on the debate team) and he met some kid named Karl. Soon Karl moved from Wichita to Lawrence. He planned to study theatre at KU. But then Andy and Jason had decided to form a weirdband with Karl as the vocalist. After auditioning several drummers, Chris Bulgren joined on percussion. In the days of Grunge versus hippy-retro (reigning local talent included the fresh and infamous Paw, the Salty Iguanas, Which Doctor?, Stick, Baghdad Jones, Sin City Disciples, etc), Danger Bob was just plain bizarre. The basic idea was to make fun of all these bands and the national counterparts they were imitating. One time they went on stage with each member wearing six or seven flannel shirts. This sentiment was summed up by the Danger Bob hit "Better n' You." The Lawrence scene was in it's heyday, and Danger Bob was in the fighting ranks of new bands that had not achieved "local superband" status, but were still drawing at countless house partys and small venues like the infamous and now ruined Crossing, the Outhouse, the ruined and ultra hip Hideaway, and the Down and Under. Paw had just been signed to A&M and other bands were getting signed to record deals large and small. The feeling was that record executives were on every street corner, and if you ruled the Bottleneck, you were going to be an overnight success story, like Nirvana! Open mic night at the 'Neck was one of the hottest nights in the region, and the sky was the limit. Also in the running of this 7 day a week rock show was a rootsy guitar band named Steal Mary. A skinny, not yet bald kid named Kenny, was the guitar player / frontman. He was also one of Karl's fellow theatre students. Bored with his band-mates lack of desire to become huge rock stars, he quit Steal Mary and began to teach himself to play drums. Two years later, Chris Bulgren stepped out of Danger Bob to do an internship with Electra Records, then off to Spain (or something) for a year. After jilting his ex-girlfreind out of the job, Kenny auditioned and was granted the percussion chair in Danger Bob. In addition to being able to play drums, Kenny had a practice space, and a P.A., both of which the Bob had recently lost. Kenny had become Kenny G!The Classic form of Danger Bob had been born. A pair of mysterious artists appeared at a Danger Bob show. Their names were Steve and Rox. They invited the band to come to their country estate to get drunk. They gave the band a magic Rickenbacher guitar. Then things began to change. Danger Bob recorded the Double Cassette "Le Pop Shoppe" and moved up in the ranks of local heroes. And local heroes began to break up. Eventually Danger Bob won the battle, and became the biggest rock stars in town. By default, of course, because everyone bigger broke up. And the house parties became illegal. And the rock bars turned to frat bars. And the bands that were signed saw their record deals dry up. But the Bob lives on! Yes, still crazy after all these years, we have stayed together, and not to become huge rock stars. We are just entertaining ourselves. Pleasing our own little sick minds. Obviously all of you are just as sick as we are. And I have to tell you that as we approach the millinium...I'm getting sicker.
