Artist History Formerly known as Presence (a name lost due to legal reasons), the currently one-man band led by Marcelo Silveyra was formed in Monterrey, Mexico during early 1996 with Jorge Lozano on guitar, Mario Garza on drums, and the aforementioned Silveyra on guitar and vocals. During the next couple of years, the band experienced several lineup changes, the most notable of these being the acquisition of drummer Mauricio Quiroga after Garza’s departure from the band. Despite the short existence of the new three-musician formation, the band decided to enter a studio and record a demo with the purpose of recruiting new musicians and completing the lineup, which, despite a horrible mix from the studio (to which the loss of tracks must be added), eventually ended up being the Presence demo that has been circulating as of late. Unfortunately, after a series of frustrating auditions from local musicians, the band was still far away from achieving its goal when Lozano passed away in a tragic accident. Devastated, the band went into hiatus for a while in order to recover from the loss, although Quiroga and Silveyra continued writing music in the meantime. During the latter months of 2000, Quiroga decided to leave the band after yet another series of fruitless auditions were held, leaving Silveyra alone in charge of the “band” and its future course. What does the future hold for the band? With Silveyra coming to the conclusion that it’d be impossible to find musicians with enough talent, dedication, and compatibility in his hometown, he decided to move out of Mexico during the coming year. Where to and exactly when is still a matter of time and of whether or not he finds musicians interested enough before choosing upon a new location. Silveyra’s writing, meanwhile, has considerably diversified itself and gathered several new elements into the band’s style, without forsaking the heavy metal nature of the band.
