"Meet Jamie Martin, a.k.a. Altered Perception. Shall we dive into the realm of names? We shall. Altered Reality is quite a different thing from Altered Perception. Where reality is altered, it is concrete, meaning you know its altered. You are now in another state of being, and you are cognizant of that fact. Altered Perception is either transforming what you receive as information to fit your immediate need, or the sender of that information is altering the perception you are about to receive. Like this: A UPS worker is disgruntled. That doesn't make him any more unique than the guy next to him thinking the same thoughts of blowing the doors and the boss down in one fell swoop. Except this particular UPS worker is taking his frustrations in life out on unwitting victims, by swapping routing tags. Now is he altering perception for someone that is expecting a package full of paychecks, yet receives a box of chocolate underwear? That is where Jamie Martin comes in. He alters the slow dnb cruiser data just enough before sending it to you that you get a surprising jolt of reality becoming altered. Is that perception or reality? In the Land of Phrygia Paranormal Activities and Broadband Search for Excellence, we take it as both. A lot like 1302, and we are so bold as to say as adventurous as Red Joy Reid. This IS the definition of "Lush"." - Intergrated Arts (re: Lush) "Strummed solstice takes flight, bird of envy pecks at the central nervous system. Razorback terrorvision collides with reinforced bassic ballistic bombshells. Explosive sights, but naturally safe and contained. Always contained. A steady hand rules over the assemblage of this pewter personae projection ala Altered Perception. We again have reason to take an artist and double the trouble by posting another track, which we regard in this case as a rather spellbinding curvature of the most pleasant order. If you like dnb with the elements of what Trance SHOULD have kept, meaning, all the shit is thrown out, like the repetitive 1-2 Moron Polka, the Vicks Vapo-2 Step, and the Masked Mental Mollusk. All these pleasures of the lost in mind will be gratefully dismissed, as Jamie binds a new element of dnb together in what appears to be a generative, and positive step in the final transition from techno shapelessness to procreative mass dance infections. With the agility of dieselboy, and the grace of Sasha, we find Altered Perception to be quite an impressive centerpiece for the musical roundtables often held here in the Land of Phrygia. The fact that usually only one person attends can attest to the 100% approval rating, but we digress. As far as floating, why yes, we were quite high." - Integrated Arts (re: floating) // "This track punches like Mike Tyson. No, it punches like Lennox Lewis (that's harder that Mike Tyson for the benefit of those in the US). This is a very dark track and very minimalistic. The intro consists of a nice eerie synth pad playing a basic phrase which works nicely in the way the notes fade into each other. Then the breakbeat comes in. There are 4 levels to the breaks in this track - the first is a filtered oldskool number which sounds great. As soon as this gets rolling, new elements are brought in every 8 bars and that's when it really starts to pound. It's a good feeling..." - dnbscene.com (re: vintage) // "It's a really nice tune, and took me back a few years. I'd love to get my hands on the beats usd in this - they're very oldskool, but they've got some peachy sound quality, and they're not ones that have been overused at all. The patterns are nice and complex with a strong influence from when jungle first began to break free from hardcore in '93, with beautiful programming (those mad drum rolls are just creamy). "The atmospherics are also pretty bang on (though the stuttering stringy effect could have been put further into the background). The usual oldskool 808 bass is put to good effect, and keeps it simple, drawing the ears to concentrate on the breaks and FX. this track pays homage to past styles and does it with a great deal of respect, using sounds that reflect the times, but without being cheesy. Well worth downloading!" - dnbscene.com (re: underneath)
