Artist History
Born of poet Steve Ketzer Jr. and singer M. Delline Zaio, Eric emerged with a pen in his hand and a song in his throat. He sang his way through high schools in Illinois and California, receiving the award for Senior Best in Vocals at Palm Desert High. At 17, Eric enlisted in the Navy and went oversees. The solitude influenced years on the USS Tarawa helped Eric perfect his writing style and gave him the desire to perform his poetry, which he began doing in '92. He worked the San Diego coffeehouses as a poet from '92-'96. In '96 he started playing guitar. Merging his passions for music and poetry, Eric was transformed into a singer/songwriter. As a singer/songwriter, Eric began opening for artists such as: Shree Dove, Stevie Harris, Lisa Sanders, Gregory Page, and Jewel. He was quickly recognized as a formidable talent and began headlining shows around the San Diego region. In 1998, motivated by his educational pursuits, Eric moved to St. Charles, Missouri. After a year of working the St. Louis open- mics, he began booking gigs at local bars and coffeehouses including Cicero's, Obie's, Sally T's, Stage Left, Generations Nightclub, LA Café, and the Pony Espresso. Currently, you can catch Eric on the 1st Tuesday and 3rd Saturday of every month at Sally T's and as the host of the "Collective" which is a showcase of singer/songwriters and poets. |

Press Reviews
Great album! I listened to it all night. Really good stuff! I really dig the words. I have heard many Local Joe's albums, and let me tell you, 95% of them were horrible, but I put "Unfulfilled Desires" in on my way home, and it hasn't been out yet! Currently, I am airing "Railraod Affair", "Midwestern Sky",and "Restless Sheets". --Ian Small, KMCR, 103.9 the Hits*******************************************************************************Acoustic folk calls for a certain type of voice and passion for a message to not only come across aurally, but emotionally. S. Eric Ketzer accomplishes it all with one of the most beautiful male folk voices around, and lyrics that flow like lyric poetry. "Restless Sheets" is only one example of his ability to make music into a mural of senses. He's much more than just another coffeehouse Bard - Ketzer is a rare artist who paints music and composes visions.--Stonewall Radio******************************************************************This guy is an amazing hybrid of R.E.M. (unplugged) and James Taylor! Soaring voice, acoustic guitar, great lyrics. S. Eric Ketzer is the inspiration for creating this station!--New Acoustic Folk Blues & Country Connection ( mp3.com/stations/acousticconnections ) |
