Artist History The prince of oud born in Budapest in 1970, Omar Bashir started playing the oud at the age of 5, tutored by his father, the renowned oud player, Munir Bashir. When he turned seven, he began studying music and ballet in Baghdad. He played solo for the first time when he was 9 years old at a school persentation. Following his graduation form the Academy of Music and Ballet, he pursued his art studies at the Conservatory of Baghdad. During this period he played solo oud in several musical evenings. Back to Hungary, he carried on, in the Music Deparment of the University of Sciences, a specialization in teaching choir singing and musical theory.
