Artist History
Born into a farming family in the North of England in 1953, and there wasn't any time in such circumstances for any musical training whatsoever, either formal or informal.
At the age of 16 he left home and played around with a guitar for a number of years as most young people of that age did. He busked up and down the UK for a while but quickly realised that he was not good enough to make a career out of guitar playing.
He admits - "I didn't ever get much joy out of learning and playing other people's music. I had too many sounds in my own head that wanted to come out".
He cannot read music. He has now been composing for about twenty years. His favourite instruments are keyboard and synthesiser, but he does sometimes play guitar for backgrounds or solos. The style of his music has changed over the years. Originally it was very akin to Tangerine Dream. These days it is often much more melodic as he has become more intent on producing instrumental sounds that fire the imagination. |
