ARTIST: JAY'S ROCK ARMYSONG: JUST MY LIFEGENRE: ROCK / POP In ancient times, the people would’ve said this: "There once was a chieftain, and his name was Jay. And this chieftain had an army, and they did rock. And it was good." “Just My Life” opens with a snappy little bass lick that ushers in this little piece of pop/rock heaven. This song had my foot tappin’ from the onset, and every time I listen to it I like it a little more. It's little bit funky and a little bit rock-n-roll, heated up with a pinch of soul. Production and mastering are just about perfect. You can hear all the separate parts in this tune just fine, including the lyrics! That’s right, you can actually hear and understand the words in this tune! Yow! Vocalist, Stan Dembowski, has a gritty, street-smart voice with a Rod Stewart-like delivery that suits this song extremely well. As to the instrumentation, "Just My Life" features guitars with a nice, slightly overdriven tone. The rhythm section is smooth and together, pumping like a well-oiled machine. There is a sweet snap to the snare. The lead is tasty, but a bit too low in the mix. I really would’ve liked to hear it just a wee bit louder. The song’s structure is standard pop, and the trashcan ending couldn’t be any better. Yeea-aaahhhhh! Jay’s Rock Army is a 4-piece, (2-guitars, bass, & drums) rock/pop band that knows how to kick out a rockin’ little ditty, and if you’re in the mood for a standard-style guitar-rock anthem about taking it just the way it is, or taking it right on outta here, this is the tune for you. Check it out – you won’t be disappointed! Long Story Short: This tune rocks. It is a fun little romp through anybody’s "Take That" attitude.
