Artist History
In Shallah is one of the many entities born out of the rich mixture of D.C. hip-hop crews existing in the 90's decade (Hibernation, Freestyle Union, the Amphibians). Their name comes from Arabic and means "by the will of God" or "God willing". It doesn't serve to advance any sort of religious fanatacism, it is just the members' philosophy that their creative energy comes from The Creator. The group gelled into a duo around '95 and met up with DJ Stylus shortly following. Since then, the group has built a catalog of songs, worked with former InI member (and younger Soul Brother) Grap Luva, and performed in D.C. and NYC. Rub had built his rep as part of Chakras, Freestyle Union's band. His freestyle skills are formidable and his writtens are known for wit, depth, and a dash of machismo. Cyrus is the main beatsmith of the crew, although Rub produces also. His forte is melodic ethereal grooves. Rhyme-wise he's playfully cryptic and layered, fond of literary and theological references. DJ Stylus is the stage show and general business orchestrator. |
