Artist description
From the ashes of San Diego's fetish, Severance was formed...in Florida.
We're still trying to figure that one out. Anyhoo... Kate (Vocals,
Programming, Keys, Kick Ass Tattoos) began a quest to seek out the best and
brightest musicians in the Orlando area to begin Severance. The best and
the brightest were unavailable so she first settled upon Ron (Keys,
Programming, A disposition towards the overly complicated) who's musical
styleings can best be described as "forlorn". Pretty soon, in one of the
greatest mistakes ever made, Mike (Guitars, Schadenfreude) joined the fold
after a long run with Washington DC's Naked Fringe. Though some have
described Mike's guitar playing as "haunting" and "atmospheric", upon
hearing him most agree his playing is "sloppy" and "out-of-tune". Next into
the fold was Cory (Drums, Vacant Stares) a recent Boston transplant. Corey
is by far the most talented member of Severance, and our understanding is
that his family has been kidnapped and is being held in a break-away Russian
republic - they will not be harmed so long as he plays. Finally came
Florida's own Scott (Bass, Programming, Keys, Insomnia) who bides his time
both with Severance and Human Factors Lab. Scott studied bass as a music
performance major until he said bullocks to it all and decided to go
Kayaking.
Severance brings a unique blend of organic and industrial music to the
masses, much like a band of Borg troubadours. With an intensity that is not
so much "electrifying" as "wind-up music box" Severance has been seen
gracing the stages of establishments far too good for them. Calling on
influences such as Herb Alpert (without the Tijuana Brass) and Lawrence
Welk, Severance's "Artistically-Sound Heavy Champagne Music" will be blowing
bubbles across the nation this spring. Plans are in the works for a full
fledge album around the same time, but let's face - those few kids
interested in it will probably just download it anyways.
