    Artist History
In February 2000, twin brother Oliver and Nick Nestor seeing their city and Canadian Hip Hop plagued with mediocrity decided to create an Independent record Label called Nine Planets Hip Hop® to put an end to this trend. Their vision was to cater the best in Hip Hop Culture to hungry Canadian Fans looking for new talent to revive Canadian Hip Hop. Based in the nation's capital, they surrounded themselves with high school friends who shared and nurtured the same vision. All of them multi-talented and experienced bilingual individuals from all angles of the industry are the pieces needed to bring the ship to board. They are Brenden Smith and Michael Kabongo and Hervé Kacou. The rest are Perly Constant, Andy Bastien, Mike Hyppolite and Hugues Lamour. Having dealt with the Hip Hop culture all their lives, Nine Planets Hip Hop® understands the requirements needed to succeed in the fastest growing art form ever. Nine Planets Hip Hop® key goal is to become Canada's first successful independent record Label by providing tailored urban products that will be perceived by the end user as unique in sound, quality and design. The independent record Label, which is based in the Canadian nation's capital has presently 2 Mc's on its roster: DL Incognito and Mic Check. DL Incognito is a Hip Hop purest, trying to convert current Hip Hop back to its roots. With clever metaphors, anti-gimmicks lyrics and ill underground productions, this MC will open up the ears and eyes of all Hip Hop fan's dying for the sounds of the realness. Mic Check, the French Lyricist adds a twist of consciousness with his killer delivery and extensive French vocabulary. Having round up themselves with Ottawa's premier Mc's, Nine Planets Hip Hop® decided to release the works of DL Incognito, Mic Check and their DJ Techtwelve considered one of the best underground DJ's in the capital through a compilation Album entitled "Welcome To The Land of the Lost" in January 2001. The compilation was comprised of 17 tracks including 2 French tracks and a bilingual one giving a tasteful balance of Hip Hop a la 'Francaise' and a la 'Anglaise'. Nine Planets Hip Hop® as a Label, have managed to sale more than 700 copies independently and according to some reports from HMV they are the best selling independent material in the Ottawa-Carleton region. The compilation featured Nine Planets Hip Hop® artists and DJ, plus, the skills of Ottawa's DMC champion Kid SL. Satisfying the request by fans to hear more of DL Incognito, Nine Planets Hip Hop® released the ground breaking 12 inch single dubbed "The Two Planets Project: Spit Forever". Entirely produced by one of Nine Planets Hip Hop® producers, Techtwelve and written by DL Incognito, it has gained commercial success playing on KOOL FM 93.9 owned by CHUM. The single received incredible praises from college radios across Canada and the United States of America that URBNET featured it on their compilation album of Up and Coming Canadian artists entitled "HipHopmix, Volume 1". It also featured artist such as DAN-E-O, Buttah Babees, and Swollen Members just to name a few. "HipHopmix, volume 1" is released on Shoreline Records and distributed by Koch International. Now with all eyes on DL Incognito, Nine Planets Hip Hop® worked hand in hand with Gary Tutte from Citrus Soul and Rugged Culture for the realization of the first ever 35 mm urban video filmed in the nation's capital. "Spit Forever 2" is the title of DL Incognito's video. It features a well-known Toronto artist from The Circle, Tara Chase. Nine Planets Hip Hop® released the video on April 10th ,2002 and accompanied by the 12 inch single, which will be available in record stores across Canada by May 2002. In the near future, they plan to release the long anticipated album of Ottawa's finest DL Incognito entitled "A Sample and a Drum Machine" and more 12-inch singles including some hot French ones by Nine Planets Hip Hop® next rising star Mic Check. Nine Planets Hip Hop® is also working on a clothing company to create another form of expression that personifies urban music at its best and a magazine.

((DL Incognito)) - This MC/Producer was inspired by rap pioneers such as KRS-One, Rakim, Gangstarr, Q-Tip, Common and Mobb Deep. DL's pen touched the pad at the age of 16, in the Canadian capital where he started molding his classics. The 1999 underground classic "Stereotypes" featuring Tara Chase from the CIRCLE received tremendous praises from Underground radio shows and revived Ottawa's Hip Hop scene that was almost non-existent. The follow up 12" single "The Two Planets Project: Spit Forever" produced by TechTwelve, ignited like wild fire in Toronto's underground scene and spread all across Canada, even across the boarder. ((Mic Check)) - France has long been the only place to hear French Hip Hop. With the rise of Montreal's underground scene, French hip hop has now expanded its borders overseas without looking back. Many major Labels started fishing for French MC's to propel them into the French hip hop market. Nine Planets Hip Hop® could not resist and fished for a big act by the name of MIC CHECK. Born in Brussels, Belgium Micheal Kabongo a.k.a MIC CHECK moved to Canada in his early teens and found his niche with Hip Hop.
