Artist description Jonathan Kingham must be doing something right. In his first few years on the scene, he has shared the stage with the likes of Shawn Colvin, David Wilcox, Michael McDonald and Jonatha Brooke. His first year on the scene, his raw command of the guitar combined with his warm inviting voice earned him the prestigious 1st place award at the National 1997 Telluride Troubadour Songwriting Contest. Then, in both 1998 and 1999, he placed in the top five of the John Lennon Song Contest. Later in 1998, he was awarded 1st place in the Unisong International Song Contest in the performance category for a live recording, a testament to his onstage performances. Maintaining that momentum into 1999, he took the 1st place honors in the Unisong International Song Contest in the Country/Folk Category. In 2000, he brought home the 1st Place award in the USA Songwriting Competition in the Folk Category as well as taking the Overall Grand Prize out of a field of 33,000 entries from around the world.Performing Songwriter Magazine selected both his Self Titled debut EP and his sophomore release "Harwood Floors" as one of it's top Do It Yourself Picks. But they weren't the only one taking notice. "There's been a growing buzz about him over the past few months, and his debut recording illustrates why," said the Victory Review. Raised in Woodland, California, Kingham joined the Navy, making him one of the few singer/songwriters who can play a wicked guitar while running a nuclear powered aircraft carrier.Jonathan now makes Seattle his home where he is pursuing his music full time and managing the operations of Exact Records, a new Seattle based independent record label.
