    Artist History
Originally self-taught, Nebraska born and Texas raised guitarist Jeremy Garcia won scholarships for study with masters such as Philip Hii and Robert Guthrie. Master-class situations have afforded him the opportunities to study with accomplished guitarists from all over the world, including Roberto Aussel, Hopkinson Smith, and Costas Cotsiolis. Jeremy gave his debut recital on March 26, 1999 at the Texas A&M University campus in Corpus Christi, TX. A portion of that recital was televised on the ABC affiliate in that city. He was the first guitarist to appear with the Southern Methodist University Wind Ensemble in 1997. Furthermore, he was featured as a soloist with The Fort Worth Men's Chorus that same year and appeared at the Southwest Guitar Festival in San Antonio (1998) as a member of the SMU Guitar Quartet. In November 1998, he was awarded second prize in the Hubbard Chamber Music Series near Dallas while competing against musicians of other instruments. With education a high priority for Mr. Garcia, he has given master classes for young musicians and students of the classical guitar. Furthermore, he volunteers as a speaker and performer at area schools. Recently, he was asked by the Dallas Classic Guitar Society to adjudicate the first annual Guitar Zone competition featuring young guitarists. Jeremy's repertoire includes music from the Renaissance to the present day. His varied repertoire has made it possible for him to perform with many diverse groups ranging from a large ensemble with choir, to a string quartet. In addition to composing his own pieces for solo guitar, he is currently working with several other young guitar composers on expanding the repertoire. Mr. Garcia holds degrees in classical guitar performance from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Presently, he is residing in the Houston area where he directs the guitar programs at Kingwood College and San Jacinto College North while maintaining a busy performance schedule
