    Artist History
AllRise is a band not based on fashion, manufactured hype or cynicism. Their identity is simply the energy of their shows: a band and an audience, and that strange union that happens when speakers push air. But when this energy is based in Hollywood, it inevitably reaches industry professionals who share a passion for music and an interest in artistic integrity. In September 2002, when every major label submitted their bands for a coveted guest appearance on the upcoming season premiere of HBO’s Six Feet Under, Executive Producer Alan Ball said, “As soon as I heard your song, I knew that was the one.” He went so far as to ask the band for a description of their sound to include in the script. Lead singer Adam Iscove wrote, “It’s like early Peter Gabriel meets Tool; heavy but hopeful. Desperate but positive.” The visceral impact of the shows is now being captured on tape through working with world-class producers like Scott Gordon (Aerosmith, Alanis Morrisette, Ringo Starr) and Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd, Jane’s Addiction, Peter Gabriel). The band is preparing for a Spring release and tour to coincide with the publicity they have been receiving in anticipation of the Six Feet Under season premiere, tentatively scheduled for March 3. For the band-mates, their current momentum is just a byproduct of hard work. You could say AllRise started in ’97, when three college kids-- brothers Adam and David Iscove & Jeff Murphy-- found out early on that making music was more educational and inspiring than attending class. Or you could say AllRise really began in the summer of 1999, when Mike Sherman, the young engineer who was mixing their first recording, saved the day after a bassist bailout. Anyway you slice it, four guys have spent the last few years earning the cred that makes a band not only break through, but also last. In Hollywood, a true music community is an anomaly. In spite of, or perhaps due to, the uniqueness of their fiercely positive focus, AllRise has created a fan base and a network of fellow bands that repeatedly pack clubs locally and state to state. Their website is nearing 20,000 hits, allowing fans across the country and overseas to purchase CDs and merchandise while discovering more about the songs and the band. Bassist Mike Sherman explains, “we had never played Portland before, and when we got there, the kids already knew all the lyrics and one of them had even learned my bass lines!” Theirs is a scene filled with people of all ages and walks of life with a passion for new music. “Closed, embittered minds are a dime a dozen. We all know that true positivity is the hardest, heaviest style of anything. Music, movies, literature…it’s the deepest form of art,” says David, the guitarist. Adhering to this belief is what has gotten AllRise this far, and will be what carries them into a future of their own design. In the song ‘Go Down Fighting,’ Adam states it plainly: ‘After I’m gone What was it for? Was it a waste, one empty space? Not anymore’
