Artist History
John Curtis is a keyboardist/composer from Portland, Oregon currently residing in Minneapolis. He played and wrote for progressive bands from high-school until well past the time that it was either fashionably acceptable or practical to do so. He subsequently went to Portland State University for five years, studying composition with Tomas Svoboda (www.tomassvoboda.com/bio.long.html), and playing collegiately-requisite amounts of Chopin. After years of trying to make a living in various cover bands, hairspray bands and funk bands, while also working as a recording engineer and music copyist, he is now a bookkeeper by trade and has mostly confined himself to his room, where he funnels his various musical proclivities into recording projects intended to amuse and provoke. In addition to his pop/rock/whatever songwriting, he also writes works for solo piano and small ensembles. Someday he may finish his operetta about a giant pizza-bearing fish. He is a wine and food geek in his spare time. |
