Artist History
Bryan Mitchell has been Djing for the past five years. Starting out as an electronic musician remixing songs for local electronic acts in his hometown, Dallas in 1992. Soon after he began spinning deep soulful house at underground parties and raves around Dallas. In 1996 he moved to College Station where he started a radio show entitled 'Electronica' on KEOS 89.1. Through the show he was able to make contact with local DJC who asked Bryan to help him take over the existing 'Club X' on KHLR 103.9 in College Station. When new management took over the station the duo was allowed to turn the original pop dance show into an underground dance forum. The show broadcasts from ten-o'clock till midnight Saturday nights then live from local clubs from twelve till three o'clock. Bryan's band, Permanent Smile, who has been producing electronic music since 1987, has recently released its second CD entitled 'Vinoplastique' which is a 32 track remix effort recorded at Shoetree Studios in College Station by Mike Nimocks. The CD showcases his eclectic style and rapid mixing ability. It features one original track from the upcoming album 'Ink off the Lemon' as well as two remixes. The 'Goban' remix of 'Checkers' (Division of Beat) and the 'Shifting Pyramids' (Serge) mix. Bryan is currently working on Permanent Smile's Third CD due out in early 2000. The original Permanent Smile under the old band name 'Serge' covered the southwest U.S. in 1993 and 1994. They opened up for early techno acts such as: Digital Boy, Moby, Soul 2 Soul, Deee-lite, etc. And later synth-pop acts: Information Society, Anything Box, Cause and Effect, CCCP. While anticipating the completion of the new album, Bryan has been spinning at local clubs and raves throughout Austin, Dallas, and Houston. His live style consists of mostly trance and breaks.
