Press Reviews
³Slow jock hunk-rock I am. Gloating hippy-crite Sam I Am. Mommy bought me
these baggy pants, I hope I¹m seen at skateboard ramp.²
The lyrics become even more smart to the pissed off nature of Blanche
Davidian in their first release, ³Attack of The Killer². This disc is a
product of the Phoenix streets. The songwriting is truly intelligent and
serious as a heart attack. The members of Blanche Davidian have created
something in their own recording studio, Sonar Digital, that will turn
rock-n-rollers on their ear and have the punk rockers quit their bands. With
titles like ³Robotussin², ³A Genitalia Ballot², ³Oedipal Complexions² and
³Ben Wa Beets², singer Jamie Monistat VII brings his John Lydon/Jello Biafra
style backed with massive guitar sounds and an acceptional rhythm section to
the top of the musical food chain here in the Valley.
The songs seem to convey a torment of sorts. Angry about society,
disillusioned about one¹s purpose here on earth and wanting to ³get back²
musically to those who have done wrong to them, are wrapped in a
guitar-based, rock disc. The tracks are written for originality. That¹s what
you¹ll get. They haven¹t been heard before. No pop-rock, pop-punk
mediocrity, just pure rock-n-roll on a pedestal worthy of greatness.

Blanche Davidian
‘Attack of the Killer’
Swagger is practically a lost art in rock ’n’ roll,
but Blanche Davidian have it in spades with their
campy showmanship, and they have the musical chops
to back it up. Singer Jamie Monistat VII howls
wildly and unintelligibly over guitarist Mike
Hawk's tasty riffing (and exquisite solos), and
the band rocks with abandon on humorously titled
tunes to match the group's (and the lead singer's)
name. Like a sucker punch to the gut, their
garage-cum-glam music leaves you breathless.

Their puns kill me. Every title has some sorta
play on words, but when they get down to rock,
they get down to business. BD's driving beats,
oodling guitars, persistent tambourine, and
heavily reverbed vocals crank out some catchy
anthems, classic rock, and twisted walls of sound.
At times I hear HUSKER DU, JANES ADDICTION, and
QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE.
Good.
