Artist History
Airport 77 was formed in late 2000. The aim - to create moody, lush, melodic and danceable trance music with a cinematic feel. The band currently consists of one member, Melbourne based musician Andrew Volz. Airport 77 is the latest of many projects for him, after commencing music production in 1989.
Andrew studied piano under the Suzuki method for twelve years from age four (as did electronic guru BT), also learning classical guitar, trumpet and french horn. Over this period, his interest grew in electronic music such as Jean-Michel Jarre, Enigma and Klaus Schulze and later, Chicane and BT. This background gives Airport 77 a more classically influenced, melodic feel to their music than many others in the trance genre, without making any concessions in the rhythm department.
