Artist History
Woodrose was originally formed around 1972 in Edmond, Okla. by Howard Brady (acoustic guitar & lead vocals), and has had many different members. Howard started playing with some local boys, and they would play for anybody who would listen. I don't know much else about the early years. I came along in 1984 and I only played with them for about a year and a half when Howard was transferred by AT&T to Denver. We made the recordings at Benson Sound in Oklahoma City on a Saturday morning just a few months before we went seperate ways. The tape was just a demo to get gigs. Who'd have thought that Woodrose would find a whole new audience 17 years later. I always knew I had lightning in a bottle, I just didn't know what to do with it. The guys in Woodrose were a trip! Howard, in his trademark Hawaiian shirts and beard, looked like a seasoned Micheal Murphy and was ADORED by the ladies. He had em in the palm of his hand by the end of the night, and then gracefully bowed out to go home to his beautiful wife and wonderful little daughters. Steve and Tim Morse were twins, and totally different people. Tim (acoustic guitar, vocals) was the quiet reserved level-headed one, and Steve (fiddle, lap steel, electric mandolin, vocals) - well, he was kind of a nut! They were both tall and lanky Okies. Jimmy Bennett (electric guitar) was a good old boy and a fine lead player. He kind of kept to himself a lot. Bob Albaugh (bass) played better than any bass player in town, and we were damn lucky to have him! He was a lot of fun. That leaves me (drums), and I guess you could say that I was just thrilled to death to have been chosen as their drummer. They could have had anyone in town, and I was the one. I made sure I showed up on time!

Press Reviews
"Wow! These guys are incredible! Their music is what Country Music oughta be. Woodrose plays "The Rose of San Antone" with the perfect combination of skill and good taste. Great vocals and harmonies. Sweet lap steel fills and solo, too. I enjoyed "Kansas City Southern"! Really cool harmonized guitar and electric mandolin hook. Very unique and catchy sound! And finally, "Music Man". What can I say? Johnny Cash would be impressed. Very few people have a voice that cuts right into your heart like Howard's. It was a real pleasure listening to this music!" ----- Paul Brady (no relation to Howard) http://www.mp3.com/mothball.......................PATRICK DODD SAYS: "This band puts the big "T" in Texas! Howard's smooth and smoky voice gets to the heart of every song, blistering fiddle and silky lap steel invest every solo with the very essence of that special sound that is Texas country, and the choice of material is both classic and refreshingly upbeat. I especially enjoyed "Kansas City Southern" with its full throated harmonies, though its hard to pick a favorite with so many classics floating by. Their version of "San Antonio Rose" would have made Bob Wills proud and you could almost feel the smoky barroom around you in "Music Man".Altogether one of the most satisfying country bands I have encountered in many a moon! Thank you Woodrose for showing me that someone still remembers how to play it like they mean it."--Patrick Dodd, MP3 Reaper reviewer........."First rate songwriting and great vocals along with some truly fantastic musicians makes this a very entertaining listen. I can hear how much fun they're all having together just through the recording. The mixing is great too! Stellar job, guys!" -- Jodi Krangle, Urban Tapestry @ www.mp3.com/ut.
