Artist History Melted Cat is a band that has been together for about 2 years in the current line-up, and most members were in various other bands before that time. This "line-up" is also known as Colin Nicol - Vocals Ben Leighton - Guitar Ben Clough - Keyboards Danny Carmichael - Bass Paul Gill - Drums The bands are fans of, and are influenced by, a wide variety of music from Midtown to System of a Down to Pulp to Nirvana to The Hippos to Jimmy Eat World to NOFX to the Foo Fighters (or in other words Pop Punk , Metal, Indie, Alternative, Ska, Emo, Punk and straight up rock!). In the beginning this gave the band a much too eclectic style. This is in evidence on the January 2001 "Cat's Don't Melt" demo. When the band got feedback from people on the demo it was clear that their favourite song was "Why Can't You Be More Like Me?" This prompted the band to pursue the fast, upbeat and catchy style they now have. They still try to keep the sound fresh and try not to fall into the trap, that so many bands do, of making the songs "all sound the same". The reaction the new songs get at their ever-slick live sets suggests that the band has succeeded in striking a balance between eclecticism and having their very own style. Melted Cat has recently been chosen to be on the Frozenorth Records "Future Punk Superheroes" compilation CD with the track "Why Can't You Be More Like Me?" (A track that 300+ fans have downloaded from their website and remains their most popular sing-along track).
