    Artist History
Doug Maake (Realtime), started making making tracks back in early 1995 after hearing Goldie open up for Bjork in Cleveland, Ohio. Up until that point, Doug was an upcoming orchestral percussionist/timpanist with a promising career ahead of him. After hearing Goldie, he decided that his immediate love for this new sounding music was much greater than his love for classical. He quit college, and started producing with his friend, and fellow junglist, Paul Nugent. They at first started working on some intelligent tracks, until they heard Torque by the guys at NoUTurn. Those tracks and other tracks by Dom and Roland, and Doc Scott are what turned them to the darkside of jungle. After working on his producing skills, and buying equipment for a studio, Doug moved back home to Houston in 1997. After doing a couple of live pa's Doug picked up DJing. He soon became involved with DJ Friendly, and Boom Tap Sound. It didn't take very long for Doug to start playing out with the likes of Hype, Loxy, Ink, Usual Suspects, Bad Company, Tech Itch and Decoder, DJ Lee, Total Science, Aquasky, and many of SF's Phunkateck crew. In the summer of 1999, Doug, and John Kurian (SDF3, DJ/Producer, and founder of Protoculture), got together and formed FightKlub Recordings as an outlet for the tracks they had been working on. What began as a concept, quickly became a force to be reckoned with in the Texas jungle community. Y2K has also seen the addition of new artists to the FightKlub label. They include ArQer (Mark Garlitos), SDF-ONE (David Loop), Wikid (Matt Cielak), Tha Driva (Justin (Gusto) Schauer), and Spy Vs. Spy (Bruce Maeir). 2001 is a year of excitement as FightKlub, and NeuroMechanix put the finishing touches on their newly built studio that they will share. Expect to hear some great things as these guys take the Houston jungle sound into the 21st century.
