Artist description
Each performance can range from a energetic, psychedelic groove experience to a mellow folk show; There by creating a new style of music known as "Acid Folk Music". Charley's dynamic song writting and effects work on the guitar provide the lead to which Steve is able to bring the groove to the next level. "Acoustic guitar meshing with percussion rhythms spun around tingling vocals makes for a great tie" says Paul Parietti of the east coast magazine Fantastic Voyage System. |

Press Reviews
Dexter Grove, a duo that consists of guitarist Charley Orlando and percussionist Steve Drizos, has developed into a tight outfit with their energetic, folk-based, jam-oriented music. They may be the biggest sounding little band out there. Their 14 song CD debut, "420" opens with the instrumental "Amphibians & Mushrooms", which shows that these two can get into some pretty rhythmic and spacey stuff. The rest of the album focuses on their vibrant, uplifting and percussion propelled songs. Highpoints of the CD are the ever changing rhythms of "Move Along" and the equally inspired "Human".-Relix Magazine...1995On Tuesday November 15, I went down to The Patch to check out Dexter Grove. What I saw when I got there were two musicians so intensely lost in their music that I felt as if they were not even in the room. That spirit when playing came through in their genuine reproductions of everything from the Dead to the Stones as well as their own originals. Charley Orlando (from Doc Apple) and Steve Drizos exhibited a chemistry that can only be found between two musicians. Charley's guitar work and emotion filled vocals, combined with Steve's hypnotic rhythms on congas created hours of relaxed yet moving music to listen to. The two have been playing together like that for about six months but have future goals set on playing wherever, whenever, forever. What I liked best about Dexter Grove, was the comfortable magic I felt emanating from the duo. -The Oswegonian...1995 |
