Artist History
In 1996 the two lads Mikael and Joel for some reason decided to join forces, which resulted in the band now known as BLOODSHED. To re-enforce the line-upGlenn, Tommy and Stange joined the band. In late 1997 they all went into thestudio and recorded their debut demo, "When the night betrays the light".Shortly after the recording Stange was calmly walking down the street whenhe suddenly was fired, because the rest of the band was at the rehearsalplace rehearsing. So, a chap called Robin replaced him. Writing andrehearsing once again began, and resulted in six new songs. Six songs whichwere recorded in the Sunlight studio in early 1999, and ended up on the"Laughter of destruction" demo. Since it is a rather cool demo it receivedgood reviews and response. The band was also offered a couple of recorddeals. So, after some discussions the band was under the impression thatthey were going to receive a contract. But the label thought it would be abetter idea to say that they were going to send it and then not do that. Sothe band took matters in their own hands and once again entered the Sunlightstudio. This time to record the "Skullcrusher" EP. The EP was sent to, amongothers, Ledo Takas productions and Code666 records. Ledo Takas repliedsaying "7 inch COLOURED VINYL, LIMITED EDITION" and Code666 "RECORD DEAL FORTHE EP AND A FULL LENGTH ALBUM". |

Tripalium webzineBloodshed- Skullcrusher EPBloodshed blows away my lame ass once again with their second demo/EPentitled Skullcrusher. This time it's a lot heavier and leans more on thebrutal death metal side but there is still a plenty of Black Metalinfluences thrown in, sort of like an antithesis of their first demo whichis a Black Metal demo with Death influences. I'd say it's a nice move guys.Recorded once again in Sunlight Studio meaning the production is still greatand the brutality shows a lot more this time. I'm not sure if this isalready available but I suggest you drop a line to the band and inquire.I've been told by Robin though that this will be available on 7" vinyl and atape version will also be available in Indonesia.Bentong Metal circle (webzine)BLOODSHED "Laughter of Destruction" demo '99I survived. I'm fuckin' survived. Obviously the band's debut output ever,"Laughter..." impressed me, and it's even lethal enough to scare people off.Sounding nearly as black as possible, Bloodshed is far more wicked than anyother self-proclaimed 'true' black Metal horde. The songs remind of certaingrimness of bands like Dark Funeral and Mayhem, but Bloodshed proves to bemore sarcastic. The frigid, cold tone of the vocals sounds grim andmaliciously hateful. The Sunlight production on this one is surprisinglydifferent, I'm impressed that they (and Jocke Petterson seemingly) managedto pull that. "Laughter..." is one of those rare example of materials thatspawn the right spectre and senses when given a listen, with a fittinglyheinous cover-motive and design. Have you ever had the experience of evilsplitting its venom right on your face? This is the chance. (4.5 out of 5)Grendel webzineBloodshed"Laughter of Destruction" '99****3/4Bloodshed was originally formed as Scythe in '96 & has released one demounder that name, titled: "When the Night Betrays the Light". This blackmetal five man band is blisteringly fast & hellish!!! The guitars aresmoldering in a black metal fervor, tempos are mid-paced to fast-leaningmore towards the fast end of the spectrum. "Abyss Ascendant" includes asmall solo-nicely delivered. "Scythe-Blade of Destruction" has smooth tempochanges, executed with the swiftness of madmen. My absolute pick from allsix songs would have to be "Segerstrid"-kool break near the end of the song, including some squawking birds after & during, a nice guitar solo-trulygiving the tune a menacing sound. If your into black metal, pick up this demo, you will not be disappointed.-SkullCrusher/AngelaInverted Pater Noster WebzineBLOODSHED "Laughter of Destruction" DemoWwwwrrroooaaahhhhh!!!!!! This is the best demo I reviewed so far and it justkick my ass right away.. This demo contains 6 tracks of Fast paced BlackMetal with a dash of Death Metal stuff just right to get the right emotionof musick.. The vocals ranges from raw primitive screaches with a bit ofguttural vocals.. Riffs are sophisticated and it's something that you'll notget bored while listening to the stuff.. It has sharp rhythm solos and notto mention the well crafted guitar pluckings.. but the key instrument hereis their drum kit, I just jumped off from my seat after listening to itsdouble bass and rapid hand control.. Well done!! Thumbs up!! Any seriouslabel should contact this band right away bllodshed@post.comKrepuskulum webzineBLOODSHED - Laughter of Destruction (Demo - Self Produced - Sweden)Brutal Death metal extremely technician and well played, in a recording andimpeccable production that should represent in a CD! The great prominence isabove all the climatic variations of the music in grandiose " Once FutureMight ", it proves exact that the Sweden is also a land of great Deathmetal's revelations! With certainty this band will find many labelsinterested in release its debut CD, we are already anxious to listen it!Contacts: bloodshed@post.com (EF)3/5 (good)Metal district (webzine)BLOODSHED - LAUGHTER OF DESTRUCTION:It just doesn't matter: deep growls or high screeches; the singer Glenn useshis voice marvellously and obtains his youngsters from sweden their owncharacter. Their music is raw and fast, but though never loses it's red lineguiding through all songs and in spite of all it's brutality it has theneccessary melodies, which are created by extremly unobtrusive emploey Keys,or just stream from the lead-guitar into your brain. The style of Bloodshedmixes Death- and Blackmetal, and there's also a decisive influence by oldertrashmetal bands, which can be mainly found in the rifflings of theguitarists Tommy und Joel. Nethertheless change is important for them, sothere come some well done acoustic-parts to your ears. For a demo-tape thesound is damn good, just the bass is mixed a little bit too quiet. But"Laughter of Destruction" is just 'pure underground' and I'm sure this tapewill be absolute cult-status in a few years. So go and get this real greatstuff at:Bloodshedc/o AugustssonOxelv. 5138 31 Älta. This professionally designed demohas the intensity of a machine-gun and the insanity of an amok-run. A hellof a demo, which has absolutely convinced me in terms of quality, extremityand infernal speed.Nekrologium (zine)BLOODSHED - Laughter of destructionHere's a fairly new band worth keeping your eyes on. The style is some kindof mix between Death Metal and late 90's Black Metal and fact is this demois far better than many albums released lately. Bloodshed shouldn't have todo more demos to get a decent deal. Music of high quality with good vocalsis never wrong. If they don't wimp out or jump on any trend they can becomeone of Sweden's better acts, at least according to my taste. 4/5Tripalium webzineBloodshed - Laughter Of Destruction demo (Sweden)From the opening song "Once A Future Might" to the last song "Segerstrid"This six-song demo from this upcoming Swedish Black Metal act will leave youtormented yet will still ask for more. No female vocals, no keys, or anyother strange instruments often used in todays black metal, justguitars, drums and vocals. No corpse paints or evil names either. These guyslet the music do all the talking here. I love the death-like vocals in"Segerstrid", it sounds very evil. So are the screaming black vocals.Production is also great, all the instrument are clear even during the fastparts where in many case guitars tend to blur. Bloodshed is currentlypreparing to enter Sunlight once again (this demo was recorded in Sunlight)for the next release but don't wait for that order this demo now. Send $4.00(Europe, postpaid) and $5.00 (rest of the world, postpaid) to the addressbelow.Vae Solis (webzine)BLOODSHED"Laughter Of Destruction" (demo MC)rating: 4, 5 of 6This is total MARDUK / DARK FUNERAL worship. Raw (though well played andperformed), hellishly fast and brutal black / death metal the Swedish way.It heavily reminds me of FUNERAL MIST as well... And yes, of course, it wasexecuted at Sunlight Studios... Generally speaking, this is excellent effortfor Swedish-school metal lovers, however those craving for originalityshould pass it by... I like it anyway.Oskorei magBloodshed"Laughter of destruction"This is a very good demo in short terms and as they are featured on thecompilation CD for this issue I will not try to convince you with writtenwords, just check out their featured track! You will be convinced. Demoavailible directly from Oskorei for US$5/10DM in Europe and US$6 elsewhere.Bloodshed shows that the Swedes sill know what's good and what's not.Amon magBloodshed "Laughter of destruction"Swedish black/death metal recorded in Sunlight Studios: How many times hasthat been written?!?! Recorded quite some time ago now...April 99'.Bloodshed most likely have some kind of deal by now as their music is good.As with most quality Swedish bands, the songs (6 of em) are well played andof course production wise you know what to expect from Sunlight. Can'treally think what to compare it to, but the vocals are very similar to MrLegion (Marduk). Musically they sound what they are... Swedish, so need Isay anymore? I guess this demo is around 5$ or 30SEK, it's worth a listenanyway, quite brutal so send you cash to:Bloodshed, c/o Augustsson, Oxelv 5,138 31 Älta, Sweden. http://listen.to/bloodshed8/10Where's my skin zineBLOODSHED "Laughter of destruction" -99 (Swe)Well, I should have had this put in the beginning somewhere as it is a bandI am interviewing. But anyway here goes the axe a' plunging. Fast fastSwedish Black Metal is what we have here slicing and dicing faster then yacan hack up that bad vodka momma told you not to see from her underweardrawer. Six songs of CD quality (and yeah, I was right this might bereleased as a mcd with a bonus track or two) comes spraying forth in thisfine and dandy package.. Now this ain't super Setherial or Marduk fast, butit's fast and they have since said that they will add more of a deathlygrowlation into the future events.. Read more of the interview for moreinformation, as I give a proper praise to the music there.. But don't thinkthis is revolutionary or anything, thats not what I'm a spewin' this time.Ledo Takas MagazineBLOODSHEDLaughter of destruction demo '99Supreme Swedish black/death! The new kings are coming to crush the weak, sobetter beware their blasphemous strike! It was a long time the term,black/death, was misused to label the music of the scens's losers, who cannot make a homage to neither of respected styles; whilst jewelry albums thatmade media to invent the term were shamefully fogotten. I am referring toDissection first of all, but also to first Marduk and Dark Funeralmaterial, which did had a dose of brutal death metal, in spite of composersthemselves rejected that. When it comes to sound that Bloodshed have chose - it is so traditional, that Dissection guys should go to the lawyers for consultation. Ah, thesedrum arrangements make my spine shiver... though musically it is about greatskill to keep it fresh and not repetitive, so forget any forceful clowningat all. Newcommers just have that necessary charge to keep the realblack/death alive, which is more than enough. No wonder, as demo is recordedin Sunlight, which is a huge impression for a further career. I mean, guysseem damn serious with their task, and I am sure the day of a greater dealis sooner than expected. If my supposition is right, Bloodshed should besigned when you read this. Unless they do not want it themselves, that is.Having in mind their young age, great catchy songs come as a nice surprise.Fiery windblowing attacks are sometimes interwined with mid tempo mood ofmelancholia, still holding a very cold and grim effect to it. Once again Ican praise Mikael's drumming, yet check out that he is also the vocalist!Well, to tell the truth, this point is the only to be worked out better inmy opinion. It is harsch edge-balancing screaming, which is good and wouldbe very good with other band, but since Bloodshed has really gained my deeprespect, I expect the same kind of input from their vocal performance´.Mikael needs just a little bit hard try, yes... Overall order the tape by nomeans. It is just merealy 4$ with an ok layout and manufactured tape. Do notmiss their interview elsewhere!!!BAST music magazineBLOODSHED - Laughter of destructionTotal fucking darkness is what Bloodshed brings forth into the minds andhearts of their listeners. This band is like the next generation ofDarkthrone. It's like taking A Blaze In The Northern Sky and TransylvanianHunger and putting them into one! Do not doubt that when these guys getthrough blood will be shed!Pull the chain newsletterBLOODSHED: Laughter of destructionGreat piec of music, especially if you're a fan of that old-school New WaveOF Swedish Death Metal. Not afraid to sound like ENTOMBED, EVOCATION orDESULTORY, BLOODSHED kick ass throughout the six tracks of this "Laughter ofdestruction". Despites I like what the swedish death scene's sound evolvedinto (DARK TRANQUILITY, SACRILEGE...), I always went back to the old("Sunlight") sound (DESULTORY's "Into reality" or "Bitterness"; ENTOMBED's"Left hand path" or "Clandestine"... BLOODSHED bring you back to thisglorious periond and really take hold of the flame of that brutal, fastpaced but still so catchy swedish sound. Vocals are gurgled and violent bynature and reenforce the aggressive atmosphere of the whole concept. Trackssuch as "Once a future might", "Abyss ascendant" or "Without a reason"feautre this particular balance between catchy breaks, fast guitaraccelerations and gurgled vocal parts. Not really original but soenjoyable... don't hesitate.Apostasia webzineBloodshed - Laughter of destruction (Demo)Black Metal sounding music wiht a melodic touch and prehaps with a slightDeath Metal influence is obviously not very original, but Bloodshed is stillan act that stands out more than what most Swedih bands within this genredo. The music is pretty fast but verity isn't a problem for Bloodshed, northe essential good riffs but the music is as said earlier, not veryoriginal. Bloodshed show potential and I wouldn't be too surprised if anylabel showed interest either. Comes with great layout and pro-printedcassettes as well.Sounds quality: Good Number of tracks: 6 Rating 3+Code666 webzine/labelBLOOSDHED (Sweden) - "Laughter of destruction"DemoSelf-producedUltra Blasting fucking great Death-Black Metal, hi-fi recorded at SunlightStudios and played as Hell! Imagine the mix of Merciless and Marduk with abig touch of strong personality... this demo is directly in the Top 4 ofthis 'zine... let the bloodshed begins...8 out 10 |
