Artist description
A hip-hop artist from the Philippines, 13th Disciple aims to keep his listener's ears stimulated with detailed rhyme schemes, smooth flow, and mind-boggling concepts. Collaborating with various producers and turning to several beatmakers for instrumentals to rhyme to, 13th Disciple's rhymes showcase unique content with insightful viewpoints as well as braggadocio rhymes to keep your mind from going numb. Currently in the final stages of completing his album, 13th Disciple is working towards getting recognized in the hip-hop scene. Setting up his website and making his tracks accessible for download are one of the few steps that he's taking to spread his name. While using the internet as his vehicle to aggresively market his music, 13th Disciple and a couple of his friends are also concentrating on rehearsing for upcoming performances and shows. While 13th Disciple’s style might appeal only to backpackers and those confined to the world in their headphones, it does not faze him one bit. He continues to spit knowledge for the love of the art and the desire to get heard even if he doesn’t get much appreciation from non-lovers of hip-hop, as true hip-hop heads of all ages, races and sizes will nod their heads, groove along and get into the lyrics and flow of the mic-wielder. Unlike many other rappers in the music business, he is an MC who actually has a message to deliver to the masses. 13th Disciple makes music that greatly adds on to the unique hip-hop culture and revolutionizes the Filipino hip-hop scene, making Filipino hip-hop heads mumble, "At last..." |

Artist History
The idea of making his own music spawned inside 13th Disciple's mind almost three years ago. Starting out as a pastime and a tool to release emotion, rapping soon developed into a second occupation as 13th Disciple sacrificed hours of his social life to be able to create lyrics and still devote time to his studies. This dedication and love for the craft made 13th Disciple spend his waking hours and sleepless evenings honing his lyrical skill and perfecting his technique. A low-budget home studio which included a boombox, a karaoke system with two tape decks, a microphone from a karaoke set, audio cable that comes with the Sony Discman, and instrumentals downloaded from the internet is what got 13th Disciple his start. Recording about three to four songs and realizing that he cannot go far with this setup, 13th Disciple soon upgraded his equipment, and all of his current songs were recorded with his computer. Probably the most important element in 13th Disciple's rap career is the internet, as forums located in websites such as Freestyling.com, and particularly BlackInQ.com, developed 13th Disciple as an emcee. The forums allowed 13th Disciple to interact with like-minded artists and receive feedback on his pieces. 13th Disciple's desire to get recognized left him with no option but to improve himself lyrically. Through practice, dedication and perseverance, 13th Disciple slowly escalated to be one of the top mic-wielders at these online communities. He receives his much-needed respect from his peers, but he still needs to reach that level where he is known and respect all-around these forums. |
