Artist description
Two Lost Souls was a dynamic and profoundly emotional band, whose music was almost cinematic in scale. Influenced heavily by the folk-pop melodies of Toad the Wet Sprocket, the epic excess of Pink Floyd, and the soul stirring lyrical depth of The Cure and Sarah McLachlan, the group forged a new sound. Part acoustic lyricism, part jagged edged modern rock, and part brooding Gothic ambiance, the group called its unique musical form "Ethereal Rock". The group's commitment to deeply moving lyrics and complex arrangements is evident in it's only studio release "This Aching Hour" where piercing distortion and blues based guitar solos collide with strings, mandolin, and a pure tenor voice. "The album is the final testament to a group whose short career only offered a glimpse of its possible impact." |

Artist History
In 1994 a new band was formed that would complicate and enrich Utah's musical landscape for several years to come. Formed by a close group of junior high school friends, the band's unique sound was the result of all of its members learning music solely in the context of the group. They continued to experiment and expand their sound over the course of the next four years. Guided by their fiercely orignial frontman/songwriter Ethan Finley, the group cultivated its own unique, emotional sound. They completed their first and only studio album "This Aching Hour" in April of 1998. It was released to much acclaim, and virtually all of the copies pressed were sold in less than a year. Unfortunately, the life of the band lasted only a little while longer. Two Lost Souls played their last show ever on Halloween of 1998. Press Reviews
"It is rare to see musicans on a local level who present honest, well written songs first and foremost, forgoing an attempt at creating an image for themselves. They just write and play great songs--You wouldn't think that such a young band could create music of such honesty and magnitude."-Todd Nuke‘em Assistant Program Manager KXRK X-96 |
