    Artist History
It was the first week of January 1998 when Eli (guitar) and Jay (vocals) first met at a show at Daddy-O's, a local club in Springfield, MA. Both had a common interest in pop-punk music (Screeching Weasel, Queers, Ramones...) and thought it might be cool to get together and possibly start a band. Eli already had been playing with friends in garage bands and had a drummer in mind. After a couple weeks of screwing around, Marty (formerly from the local hardcore band "Drednocks" and friend of Jay) found his way behind the drums. Kevin, who's brother drummed for another local band was recruited to play bass...and the Prixx were complete! After a couple of small shows, the Prixx played their first "official" show on February 20, 1998 in a basement in Somers CT. From there, the Prixx played almost weekly at the local clubs and opened for many touring bands such as Falling Sickness, U.S. Bombs, Nobodys, Pinhead Circus, and Libertine. In April, 1998 the Prixx went into the studio for the first time where they recorded their 11 song demo and released it in June, 1998 as a tape called "Two Weeks Lunch Money" By the end of 98', the main local club where The GrandPrixx did many shows, closed. This forced the Prixx to look outside their area for shows. They played every and any show possible including local birthday & graduation parties, and even living rooms. They also began to find other club shows and played with bands like The Showcase Showdown, Furious George, Blanks 77, The Queers, John Couger Concentration Camp and so on.In early 1999, The GrandPrixx also hit the studio two more times to record what would be released in July of 99 as a split 7" with Portsmouth NH based "She's A Guy" on Imperfekt Records. The Prixx also recorded and released "33 MPH" a self-produced 7". Around this time, they also went out on their first tour with She's a Guy. The tour took the Prixx through much of the northeast and as far as Ohio and Canada. One of the tour highlights was doing a show with the Groovie Ghoulies in Montreal. The band continued to tour the rest of the summer with such bands as the The Gotohells, Nobodys and Dirt Bike Annie. In September of 1999, Marty left the band and was replaced by Ali. Jay and Ali moved to Michigan for 6 months. At the same time the Prixx began negotiating a "record deal" (ha ha ha) with NYC based FastMusic. Jay and Ali came home in March 2000 and jumped right into playing 1-2 shows a week around the north east. In April of 2000 the "Fast" deal fell through , but the band went to Indiana to record what turned out being their CD EP "Seeing Stars" and a new 7" "In Your Room". After that, Kevin left the band, and asked longtime friend of the band, Adam Taylor, if he would replace him. He accepted, and the new lineup played a bunch of local shows to gear up for their upcomming summer tour, and released a split 7" with the Proteens. They also started writing for what turned out to be their first full length release, "The Grand Prixx ..Drive Me Crazy!!". In the summer of 2001, they hit the road on a fly-by-night US tour, concluding with the recording of their debut full length, in Denver Colorado. The cd was released on Fork in Hand Records in January of 2002. The Grand Prixx sparatically called it quits the same month, so that's it. We're all done. A giant thanks and high- five for everyone who helped us and supported us along the way, you know who you are! THE END.
