Artist History
Mary Ann picked up the guitar in the summer of 1981, a natural extension of growing up in a musical family. Hearing Stevie Ray Vaughan's version of "Texas Flood" was the magic moment that inspired her to go electric and learn to play the blues. She began attending jam sessions at local clubs and soon found herself being asked to sit in with renowned Cincinnati musicians such as Cincinnati Slim and the Headhunters, Pigmeat Jarrett, Big Joe Duskin, and Blue Lou and the Accusations. This led to involvement in a succession of blues bands, radio appearances, and a winning performance at the1997 River City Blues Talent Competition. In 1998, the desire to take her craft to the next level led her to form her own band, stepping out as a front person for the first time. The band plays regularly for enthusiastic full houses at clubs around the Cincinnati, OH area. |
