Artist description
Lindy is a vocalist, songwriter, producer and programmer. She writes and produces original songs, jingles and music beds, and performs as a studio vocalist on demos, jingles, and album bgv's.
Most of her original music is pop, with an electronica flare (defined as production with electronic elements woven into the mix - not techno).
Lindy's favorite style is the self-termed "pop-rock-tronica" production, with a blend of pop melodies over some rock and electronic beats, electric guitar, and electronic ornaments.
Most of the tracks on this site are self-produced originals, except where noted in the credits.
Even with little or no marketing and self-promotion, some of her tracks on MP3.com have received high rankings on the site: "The Way That I Feel" (Top Pop 100); "So That I Could Live" (Top Christian Pop 100); "Suddenly" (Top Pop 40); "Give You" (Top 20 Country General); "Wandering Mind" (Top 100 Ambient Drum'n'Bass).
"Here Right Now" won first place in an "Original Compo 10" MP3.com competition as ranked by fellow competing musicians.
While some of her material fits the bill for commercial pop, her main inspiration when writing is to just "let it out" regardless of how well it fits a mold.
Because of this method of writing and producing, Lindy has somewhat inadvertently created her own original style in select songs, although it is still developing.
For the most part, all of the recordings on this site are for demonstration purposes only.
Currently, Lindy's original material is available for publishing.
While her music and presentations speak to the audience, Lindy prefers to stay restlessly behind the monitors and knobs with production, programming, and studio vocals. |

Artist History
Lindy grew up in Lexington, Kentucky. A straight-A student through school, she busied herself with studying and many school and church activities. Music was among the interests most important to her. She comes from a musical family, so music and creativity have always come naturally to her. Her mother recalls hearing her 3-year old daughter singing the latest 1981 Pepsi commercial in perfect pitch. One of Lindy's early childhood memories is of sitting at the piano quickly picking out the tones of mom's Rainbow canister vacuum cleaner as its hum constantly changed pitch. Piano lessons through grade school gave her an early introduction to formal music, and studying the flute through high school in band and private lessons earned her three years of top chairs in Kentucky's High School All-State Band. Her greatest musical passion was singing. Growing up, church was the most comfortable place to develop and share her voice. She sang in the youth choir and performed solos for special music at church services and at regional youth conventions.
The musical experiences she collected through high school gradually moved her towards less of an interest in performing live and more towards being creative behind the scenes.
With new ambitions to learn more about the music industry and off-stage production, Lindy attended Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, to study music and business. Through private lessons she gained a valuable hands-on introduction to computer-based music production. This, along with life-changing challenges during these years, catapulted her into the realm of songwriting.
During this experimental and, at times, dark period, Lindy stepped into the beautiful world of non-mainstream music. Avant-garde artists such as Bjork, Massive Attack, Olive, and William Orbit (Madonna's Ray of Light), swept her away into electronica, while more pop-rock artists such as Tori Amos, Jonatha Brooke, and Lisa Loeb became her musical and lyrical soul-sisters. Her list of musical influences expanded even slightly into R&B and contemporary country. She quickly saw how electronica has influenced almost every genre of music in the world in some little or big way, and thus began an intense listening habit of analyzing production elements in tracks.
In 1999, Lindy began using her vocal talents in professional studios, singing vocals for demos, albums, and jingles at Miller Melodies and Masterscore Music studios in Lexington, Kentucky. Both renown southern gospel / country producer J.D. Miller and pop / jazz producer Eric Copeland raved of her ambient, pure soprano/alto tone. Since then, she has been recording professional vocal sessions for varying projects.
That same year, a chance-meeting with Nashville-based DJ Mindub of the recording name Audity led to Lindy working with him on his debut N*Soul Records project The Language I Think In. Audity's techno/electronica dance tracks needed melodies, words, and vocals, and Lindy was chosen for the project. She wrote melodies/lyrics and recorded vocals for 5 tracks on the album, of which "The Safe and Sound" is featured on the Mercy Streets film soundtrack (2000).
Lindy finished school in Lexington receiving her Business Degree through New York's Regents College. She took the time to begin seriously learning about computers and digital recording and media. Her work at ArchVision, Inc., a Lexington-based 3-D animation and International software firm, gave her a valuable introduction to hands-on computer-based work. She took this experience with her to AirLog Imaging in Lexington, where as Program Manager she guided the start-up business through its first $200,000 of proprietary projects. She also started and currently runs her own web design company, Recurrent Dream.
Since 2000, Lindy has gradually taken the technical, computer-based skills she's to build and learn her self-built personal Digital Audio Workstation (music and media studio), including a self-built PC computer.
With these skills in hand, Lindy has been recording and producing her own music on her gear. In 2001, she wrote and produced a jingle for famous Lexington, Kentucky restaurant Halls on the River. The jingle was used in several radio spots that won 2001 Addy Silver Awards.
Other self-produced music she's worked on include original songs of varying styles, many of which have reached high rankings on the MP3.com music web community (www.mp3.com/lindygerlach). Her Internet listening audience spans all over the world, especially in North Amererica, U.K., Germany, France, Spain, and Japan. Other listeners range from South America, Russia, Asia, Australia, and Europe. Many of her songs are open for publishing. She has also penned original songs for special music/video presentations, and music beds for radio and marketing pieces.
Currently, Lindy is working on her first organized solo project which will feature her vocals and programming to encompass her unique pop-rock-electronica and ambient styles.
