Artist description
Kimo King & the Blowjams practiced these songs just five times before rendering its historic, one-time performance at Anna Bannana's Bar & Grill, August 28, 1997, in Moiliili, Hawaii. The audio track is from a low-budget video recording, so forget about trying to understand Kimo's vocals, and even maybe the melodies! The lyrics are provided, in case you really want to know. Actually, we recommend following along to the lyrics as you listen to the music. Most important is to listen to the guitar work of Kimo King, a prince of a man, the king of slackjaw music, and one of the most distinctive and adventurous guitarists you'll ever hear. Joining him are the fabulous Mark "Honolulu Slim" Prados on harmonica and flute; Kekela "Mellow Drips" Coleman, who provides an edgy guitar counterpoint to Kimo; Jon Mossman on drums; and Mark Coleman on bass guitar. Someday we'll re-record these tunes in a studio proper! |
