Artist History
I started off with a $30 guitar that a friend and I cut grass all summer to buy. We took turns alternating weekends playing it. She gave me her half for my 15th b-day. We entered a coffee house contest and won and they asked us to do another song, but that was the only one we knew! I always wrote and sang, mostly naked in the shower. Performing was on hold while I tended to my ever growing family. [I guess thats what naked shower singing does to you!] Karen Jamison and I started up again, right after the release of Kiss Like A Dream in B.C., doing acoustic "virgins" of the tunes, with a few covers.I don't know if people thought we were a singing act, or comic relief! Now in Calgary,I'm writing singing, and recording again. |

Press Reviews
"Ladysmith songbird Judee Plourde is crooning, swooning, and sometimes even yelling her way to the top. Plourde recently qualified for the semi-finals in the Vancouver Island Original Music Comp. Judged on 4 original songs, Plourde played off her recently released, self-produced CD, "Kiss Like A Dream," which has been getting air play on Vancouver Island radio stations. - "Chronicle"; Most people start into their musical career in in their teens. Judee Plourde waited until she had grown children before getting started in the music world. Plourde will compete as a semi-finalist this weekend as part of the Y2K Music competition in Nanoose, is a grandmother, albeit a youthful and energetic one. She just finished as a semi-finalist in the Songbird 2000 Contest. She recently appeared in "Arts On The Avenue" and is getting air time on "The Wave" and "The Q," both B.C. radio stations. Her music runs the gamut from celtic folk to raunchy rock and almost everything in between. Give a listen to this high energy grandma with a pierced navel and tatoos. She shows it's never to late to try anything. - "Nanaimo Daily News"; Sensual and direct, but sometimes darkly-enigmatic are the trademarks of Judee's artistic attack. Sometimes classy & sometimes sassy, her feline forays into your psyche...enhanced by her surprising vocals...will both disturb & embrace your innermost trusts and fears. - "Cosmic Debris" |
